Love AutoStreamer but wheres the status bar?

Recommended Posts

Well,

I guess you can gather from the thread title that I think you should add a progress bar to AutoStreamer so that users have some sort of idea as to what percentage has been completed and maybe even an estimated time left as well. I think this would be a beneficial feature and I feel that it would be well received.

^ kinda like AutoPatcher's loading?

btw: i have created a simple progressbar-based thingy... ill finish it off tomorrow and maybe let you play with it... 1.0.30b2 :D

Exactly, I should have wrote it that way. You know I forgot how that looks and then I looked at the Maximum PC article on AutoPatcher XP (Page 53, October Issue). I am pretty sure you can write that script. :D

Hehehe... I was able to code it once for AutoPatcher... don't think it would be that hard to do it for AutoStreamer... although im still looking at a progressbar-solution... Statusbar would be ugly in AutoStreamer IMO...

just an update: 1.0.30b2 will feature all 3 possible solutions, because i'm outta my damn mind... so you will see a messy screen showing the old progress indicator, a progressbar AND autopatcher's database-load-ish progress indicator. We might end up using 2 (i.e AP-style progress + progressbar)

That what I meant...progress bar...just couldn?t think of the word when i created this thread

you'll find all goodies in 1.0.30b2 (18th sep)... yes, i know it already 18th sep here (2:54am) but lol... i mean it will be release in pm... expect listbox (autostreamer used that), progressbar and autopatcher-ish checklist :D

and of course compatibility with special chars in AS folder...

Tada! 1.0.30b2! I said it would be ready and it is! And quite early!

Things to have in mind

1. AutoStreamer folder should handle special characters now

2. Since i had to change some critical bits of code, check if everything works fine...

3. In the last screen, pick which progress indicators you prefer...

4. ...because it's quite messy there atm (things on top of others)

5. if a subfolder named UPDATES exists in I386 folder AutoStreamer will not continue...

6. ...since Slipstreaming doesnt work on those...

7. This release is BETA... If you're not into this stuff, don't download it! Instead, download this release (1.0.29)

Download (Public BETA)

AutoStreamer 1.0.30b2

Great,

Basic functionality seems to work (can go through process check list and progress bar both work, haven't checked images though). Anyways all it needs is a little beautifying; the text is cut off a little in the checklist and the progress bars doent exactly blend with the current UI. It would also be cool if the progress bare was ?cooler looking? as it kind of looks out of place in the program as the rest of it is so eye pleasing.

Something like the attached image might be more appropriate if at all possible to blend in with your current UI.

I also relies that this is in BATA stages so I am sure it wont look the same by the time the finial release comes out.

P.S. haven?t checked full functionality yet.... but the progress bare and check list seem to work

that progress bar is in the windows boot screen!! i can't use that! i will however use a XP-style progressbar... however, that will add to the size (well i guess its already small and it wouldnt matter much)... (extra control needs to be included)

Yea, I wasn?t referring to that exact progress bar but the general style. XP-style as you so well put it:D:D

OK people, 1.0.30b3 is now up.

Attention:

This is still a BETA release, which means it can burn your computer, eat your food, kill your pets, steal your girlfriend and even kick you in the head. You have been warned.

Changes:

- Since only one bootloader is needed, the rest have been dumped...

- The old listbox was dumped since...

- ...the new checklist was prefered...

- The progressbar will also be kept...

- ...but with a true XP-style...

- God-mode (no service pack build detection, for those you know what they are doing and want to do things fast...) [use /godmode]

Tried the latest build (1.0.30b3) and it works flawlessly for me. :D I like the new checklist and progress bar over what was there before and I am very glad that my recommendations did not fall on def ears. I was also surprised about how fast they were implemented. anyways keep up the good work. By the way when will this new version go "GOLD" and exit from BATA status?

Slice

P.S. one thing I noticed about this build is that the progress bar is not centered in the app (to far to the right). no big deal just wondering why it is that way. Also, the bar still looks kind of win95-2000ish (even though there are blocks now) and I still think it doesn?t due the rest of the UI justice, although this could be due to me using this on a 2k machine. Just thought I?d mention :whistle:tle:

right now i have b4... which has some new stuff:

you can select to manually customize installation. in this case, autostreamer will pause the procedure after the service pack integration and let you do your thing. then you can continue with iso creation.

also, there are some minor fixes :)

as i mentioned, the progressbar isnt a xp-alike one... it a true xp style progressbar, so the new style will only be seen on windows xp :D

    • Steam Summer Sale 2026 kicks off offering weeks of PC game discounts by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe Every year, one of the biggest events that Valve hosts is the Steam Summer Sale. Now, the 2026 edition has just kicked off, bringing discounts for everything from the newest games and retro gems to all sorts of DLC packs. As always though, PC gaming hordes have managed to shake the servers of Steam just as the sale opened its doors, so expect the prices, store pages, and services to not show up properly for some time till the backend stabilizes. You'll find sales being present, though with minor cuts, for even relatively recently released titles this time. The front page is the place to be for anyone looking for recommendations, with it putting a spotlight on fresh games every day. However, keep in mind that the discounts themselves will not be changing and will remain static throughout the sale. Blockbusters like Clair Obscur Expedition 33, Split Fiction, Red Dead Redemption II, Battlefield 6, Dispatch, Baldur's Gate 3, Resident Evil Requiem, Anno 117, Arc Raiders, Black Ops 7, Kingdom Come: Deliverance II, and much more are currently discounted. Valve has also brought back the special "Deep Discounts" section. While part of this same sale, it only highlights games that are discounted by at least 85%, with some titles even reaching 95% off. Some of the games included here are The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Watch Dogs 2, Far Cry 4, Wreckfest, Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2, The Quarry, Ghostwire Tokyo, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II, and much more for just a few dollars each. The Steam Summer Sale of 2026 will be open for business until July 9, giving everyone two whole weeks to try and keep their wallets closed. If you want to see the biggest highlights, be sure to read our Weekend PC Game Deals special coming this Saturday.

    • Google reshuffles its AI coding team as it struggles to catch Anthropic by Karthik Mudaliar Google is already reorganizing the AI coding “strike team” it created roughly two months ago, as it attempts to find ways to close the gap with Anthropic in one of generative AI’s most commercially important areas. According to The Information, Google DeepMind is expanding the team’s focus to include “midtraining,” rather than concentrating only on coding tools and agents. Midtraining takes place after a model’s broad initial training but before the final stages that prepare it to follow instructions and perform specific tasks. In simple terms, it gives developers another opportunity to expose a model to carefully selected data before it is polished for release. That could help Google improve Gemini’s underlying coding abilities instead of relying only on better prompts, interfaces, or post-training. Previous research has found that midtraining can be particularly effective for code and mathematics, where models must move from general language knowledge to more structured tasks. Google reportedly created the original strike team in April. It was led by Google DeepMind research engineer Sebastian Borgeaud, who previously worked on model pretraining, and focused on complex, long-running programming jobs. Google co-founder Sergey Brin and Google DeepMind chief technology officer Koray Kavukcuoglu were also reportedly involved in the effort. DeepMind researchers were said to believe that Anthropic’s coding tools were outperforming Google’s Gemini models, prompting the company to give the project more attention. Anthropic has made coding a central part of its AI strategy through Claude Code and its Claude model family. The company has continued improving that area, with Claude Opus 4.8 offering upgrades for coding and other agentic tasks, along with the now-unavailable Mythos and Fable models. The reshuffle also comes at a time when Google faces increased competition for AI researchers. Gemini co-lead Noam Shazeer recently announced that he was leaving Google for OpenAI, while two other researchers who contributed to Gemini and DeepMind projects are reportedly preparing to join Anthropic. It remains unclear whether the reorganized team will produce a new public Gemini model or developer product. No release date, team size, or specific performance target has been disclosed.
