Is Big Bird from sesame street a muppet? I mean his on the muppet show he is like not a human his a sorta costume thingy but his not a - puppet - so is he a muppet or not?

I thought Muppets was the name of the show with Gonzo and Ms. Piggy , etc. Big Bird is on Sesame Street, so how could he be a muppet?And Big Bird is a person in a costume.

Miss Piggy, Gonzo, Kermit, Animal etc. are muppets where as Big Bird, Oscar the Grouch, Elmo etc. are from Sesame Street.

They are completely different.
