Program needs 3mb of virtual memory

Question

I have this little macromedia program that I use from time to time. I just reinstalled windows and now it will not work, it keeps saying that I need 3mb of virtual memory to run this application  I have 768mb or ram why is it doing this? Is there a place that I give certain programs virtual ram

Is this a hydraulics demonstration program by any chance? We used to have one that instructors used at school. It was a flash based, and it would always promt for 3mb of virtual memory. The ONLY way we found to get around it was to set the systems' virtual memory to way more than it actually needed. I seem to remember setting it to 3000. The machines had 40gb drives though so it wasn't that big of a deal.

My suggestion would be to slowly increase your virtual memory till you get to a point where the program actually runs. That's the only way I know around it.

AFAIK, there is no per program setting for it

I did what you said and slowly increased it, but like you it did not work until it reached 3000mb which is fine because it is a 80gig hard drive. Thanks for the help
