No useful leads found.. dont know what 204810B9-73B2-11D4-BF42-00B0D0118B56 string is...

Facts:

Ran memtest nothing wrong with that.

Windows is uptodaet XP SP2

ZA 4.5 running

ICS running this PC being host

norton firewall is enabled and uptodate, no virus

Adaware came up with only cookies.

Upnp service is disabled as advised in grc.com but enabling that does not solve the issue. Im not runnig an IIS server that i need to have this. I only share my net connection and some files over the network with another PC.

I would hate to do a full reinstall since im in the middle of a term but this is stopping me from doing my studies.

First try to upgrade your firewall. According to Zone Labs, all ZoneAlarm products (version 5.1 or higher) are compatible with XP SP2 and Windows Security Center. If you are running an older version of ZoneAlarm (5.0 or below), they recommend you upgrade to the most current version.

If the problem persists, then perhaps there is a problem with the OS. I had a similar problem with network connections when I upgraded to Service Pack 2. The problem was that the Network Connections service could not be started because some DLLs for wireless network (although I don't use one) were missing from the system32 folder.

So, try to see if Network Connections can be opened properly in the Control Panel and then just double click the Wireless Network Setup Wizard (found in the Control Panel, too).

If they both open (for the Wizard close it after you see it opens), it probably has to do with the USB device, not the network. In that case, I suggest you to upgrade your modem drivers.

OK, upgrading zonealarm didnt do it but i did something else which seems to have worked but its too early to tell.

I disabled ICS and ran the share network connection on both of my PCs.

After a few MrxSmb warnings, things seem to be going ok. Dont know if its gona come back to haunt me after a reboot.

Can anyone tell me how to find which services or programs fire up in what order when you start windows/log on...?
