Thank you for contacting Customer Support.

Copy the pak files from the CD, overwriting the ones on the hard drive.

1. Put the first disc in the drive

2. Go into my computer and right click on the disc and select "explore" or

"browse"

3. Browse into the Setup folder, then the Data folder

4. Right click on the uo folder and select copy

5. Close this window

6. Now browse to the game directory (default is C:\Program Files\Call of Duty)

7. Go to the edit menu and select paste (if it asks you if you wish to overwrite

select yes)

Once the file copy is done repeat the above steps for disc 2.

Move your save games to a temporary place.  Then do a manual uninstall of both

games and reinstall them.

This answer is for an Advanced user. Please do not attempt the below solution if

you are not comfortable editing the Registry. Damaging the Registry could result

in very adverse effects to your system. USE AT YOUR OWN RISK.

First it will be necessary to remove the registry keys the games creates. Please

be cautious when working with the registry as it is very sensitive. Deleting the

wrong thing can result in complete operating system failure.

1) Click Start button > Run.

2) At the prompt type: REGEDIT. The registry editor will open.

3) Click the "+" next to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE.

4) Click the "+" next to SOFTWARE.

5) Click the "+" next to ACTIVISION.

6) Right-click on the CALL OF DUTY folder and select Delete.

7) Right-click on the CALL OF DUTY UNITED OFFENSIVE folder and select Delete.

8) Close the registry editor.

Once the registry keys are removed, we'll need to remove the game files from

your hard drive. These instructions assume you've installed the games in the

default directory.

9) Double-click the My Computer icon.

10) Double-click the C:\ drive.

11) Double-click Program Files.

12) Right-click on the Call of Duty folder and select Delete.

Remove the COD.INI and CODUO.INI files from your hard drive.

13) Click the Start button > Find (or Search) > Files & Folders.

14) Search your C:\ drive for a file named COD.INI.

15) The file should be located in C:\WINDOWS.

16) Delete this file.

17) Search your C:\ drive for a file named CODUO.INI.

18) The file should be located in C:\WINDOWS.

19) Delete this file.

20) Reboot your machine. At this point the games are completely removed from

your system.

    • Seem like they are seeking for a one size fits all. You have power users and "what's a computer" generation growing up on phones, tablets, and Chromebooks.
    • Guessing it was profitable enough inserting prompted apps vs the hate it generated.
    • Also good for Debugging or troubleshooting your game.. i dont get it why nvidia app or amd does not show this data.. if steam can do it..
    • Microsoft reportedly planning to lay off thousands of employees, mostly in sales by Usama Jawad Back in May 2025, Microsoft decided to lay off 3% of its workforce, which amounted to roughly 6,000 employees. It claimed that this decision allowed it to implement better organizational changes in a "dynamic marketplace". Now, a new report claims that the Redmond tech firm is planning to lay off thousands more next month. Citing unnamed sources, Bloomberg reports that as the company continues investing heavily in its AI ventures, it is about to announce layoffs of thousands of workers as early as next month. This reduction in workforce will primarily affect sales teams, but they won't be the only ones affected. That said, the sources did mention that the timing for this announcement may change. This move, if true, won't be entirely surprising. In April 2025, Microsoft announced that it will be relying more on third-party firms to sell its software to small- and medium-sized customers. It's currently unclear how many employees will be impacted by this change, but even if the layoff percentage is in the single digits, it would still be significant as it would be impacting the professional careers of thousands. The May 2025 layoffs primarily impacted engineering and product teams. The other major round of layoffs prior to this was the decision to eliminate 10,000 jobs back in January 2023. Those represented 5% of the total workforce at that time, with numerous teams, including the one leading Mixed Reality (MR) efforts, being heavily impacted. It is interesting to note that if the timing of the announcement for layoffs is accurate, it would be soon after Microsoft closes its fiscal year at the end of June 2025. Although we'll get financial reports for the latest quarter soon after too, one has to wonder what the human cost of profit is, as Microsoft continues to report billions of dollars in revenue every quarter.
