I can't believe anybody would pay money for StyleXP when the UXTheme patcher is totally free. All you have to do is install that UXTheme patcher and use the built-in interface that XP has to handle your themes. StyleXP is a total waste of money, it seems to me.

I like style XP because it does bootscreens, logonui, vstyles, explorer buttons, and icons. Also, it has themes with all of these components so you can change your entire xp interface very easily. If you just want to change visual styles, a patched uxtheme.dll is clearly the way to go.

Those are features I had not considered about Style XP. Good point. (Y)

uxtheme = free, does not use resources, simple to use, no conflicts.

Hell yeah, use to use Style XP a while ago but never again thanks to uxtheme using no resources

VS is the main thing I mod on my computer so all style xp's other features don't mean a thing to me

uhh.. it uses resources. the themes service itself uses resources, but i do agree, not as much as style xp.

it is, though, really easy to free those resources.. type "net stop themes" in the run menu to stop the themes service.. net start themes will start it back up when ur done doing whatver u needed those resources for

wb 4.4, on most machines now, uses less resources then the themes service.. 582k mem and 1340 vm

free bootscreen changer - BootXP

free logon changer - LogonLoader

free vstyles - multipatcher, duh

free icons (and other stuff) - Deviantart

free transparent windows - transparent window manager

Did I miss anything important?

Um, hello, I agree on most of your list, but icon part ridicules me.

Style XP and DeviantArt is totally different thing.

Style XP has same feature as what IconPackager from Stardock does (Which you have to pay)

Actually you can download a patch for StyleXP so that you can use ip file without IconPackager.

And StyleXP has toolbar function just like Y'zToolbar.

Now think about it, running 6 applications at a time versus running only one application.

But I don't use StyleXP cause I have IconPackager that I paid for.

dude, i know about the themes service, but we're comparing uxtheme and stylexp, meaning we want to apply visual styles. given that that is the case, we must be running the themes service regardless of whatever we choose. hence, it makes sense to say that the uxtheme patch does not require resources (since the same one would be required in both cases).

I find it utterly amazing that people have such a hard time changing icons. I also find it amazing that people will spend MONEY just so they can change a few system icons.

Heck, if you really must change them, you can just use ActivIcons, which is free.

Sorry, I use Maxthon for IE. It's completely skinnable.

This is almost a sentence, but it would be wrong even if it was. StyleXP isn't one big program that does everything for you. It's simply a menu for a collection of programs. I have one of those too, it's called my Start button.

    • The blatant anti-competitive nature of the EU's DMA rules are obscenely IRONIC and wholly damaging to upwards innovations from within the EU. Why?! Because it penalizes marketplace competitors whom the users CHOOSE to sign contracts with (basically dictating the product management models and strategies whilst handicapping popular marketplace choices) all under the guise of 'fair competition' and assuring continued operations. The only beneficiary (as the DMA is written and applied) are the toxic wannabes with whom most consumers have chosen to NOT do business with! What kind of bass-ackwards nonsense is that?! Not everyone in the marketplace that's lower-ranked deserves some sort of advantage whilst being otherwise garbage and toxic. Ugh, so dumb.
    • Assetto Corsa Competizione, House Flipper 2, and more join Xbox Free Play Days by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe There is a brand-new Free Play Days offer available to Xbox players, giving them a chance to try out a new selection of games over the weekend. Microsoft's latest promotion brings in three games for Xbox players to try out, and they are House Flipper 2, Blades of Fire, and Assetto Corsa Competizione. Unlike in recent weeks, no games from this selection are being offered without a Game Pass subscription this time. This means only Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, Premium, and Essential members can jump into the three titles, even if they are single-player. From the trio, House Flipper 2 is for simulation fans. The title lets you buy run-down properties, renovate them, and sell them for a profit. A sandbox mode even lets you build houses from scratch too. Next, Blades of Fire lands as a fantasy adventure that combines metroidvania exploration with punishing combat. One unique aspect is that instead of finding loot, you'll be physically forging your own weapons. Lastly, we go back to simulators with Assetto Corsa Competizione, with the hit racing title offering a hardcore, highly competitive racing game focused entirely on GT3 and GT4 class cars. Everything from the tracks and tire physics to the dynamic weather conditions are focused on giving players an authentic driving experience. Here are the announced games and the platforms they are available to play on: House Flipper 2 (Xbox Series X|S) Blades of Fire (Xbox Series X|S) Assetto Corsa Competizione (Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One) To easily find the titles on Xbox consoles, first head to the Store, and then in the sidebar, find the Home section. In there, open the Subscriptions tab. All the games from the Free Play Days collection will show up in this section for quick access. This week's Free Play Days promotions will end on Sunday, June 28, at 11:59 pm PT.

    • Be sure to toss in a couple tacos to sweeten the deal, no one else sells better bridges!
    • Online didn't launch until October of 2013. So no one could play it. Even then there were issues.
