Do I need these processes running at startup?

Recommended Posts

My computer is terribly slow....or at leats more slow than it was before.

I checked msconfig, and there are some programs that I don't know if I need.

Any help would be appreciated.

Name: NavCpl

Command: Rundll32.exe c:\windows\system32\NvCpl.dll,NvStartup

Name: Upreg.exe

Command: C:\windows\upreg.exe

Name: Rundll32

Command: RunDll32.exe TweakUI.cpl,TweakMeUp

Name: DumpRep 0 -k

Command: %systemroot%\system32\dumprep 0 -k

Name: SNDmon

Command: c:\progra~1\SymNetDrv\SNDmon.exe

nvcpl is probably the nvidia control panel. i turned that off.

dumprep 0 -k only appears if your system crashes. you can safely remove that one as well.

the tweakui one looks like a control panel applet. i'm guessing you tweaked something so it appears there. you may be able to remove this one as well, but check.

google the rest.

The following are Not essential system process and can be removed

rundll32 (i had that one a few times-remove)

Upreg.exe (wtf?)-remove? (i would)

SNDmon ( according to me its from your audio card- not vital-remove)

DumpRep 0 -k - remove

as for the Navcpl...NortonAnitVirus?

Thanks.

Rundll is tweakui, I will have this enabled.

Updreg was a creative sounblaster "auto-updating-of-registration-info when adding a new user". Since I have all users I need...this is disabled now.

SNDmon was something with SymantedNetDriver Monitor...left is enabled to keep norton antivirus working.

Dumprep is disabled.

Thanks for all help!
