Windows 2003 server - software firewall

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

i'm gonna try it here, 'cause i've been roaming the Net for a good software firewall solution on a standalone w2k3 server with no luck at all

I don't want a ISA server-like program, because of my setup. All traffic (LAN and WAN) goes through one machine, using one NIC, so i'm looking for a decent well-known firewall like tiny or Outpost.

I've tried them both. TPF does the job pretty well, only flaw is it seems to block all traffic to the server for no reason sometimes. Going through the configurations (re-creating rules) usually straightens it out, but it's getting a bit frustrtaing now, 'cause i administer his server remotely.

Outpost is great, but refuses 'multiple-user login', which is nessecary when the program is accessed through, for example, terminal services.

Now for the question: do any of you know of good firewall sofware like the mentioned?

Thanks in advance,
