Hair Loss ( Desperately need help!!)

Recommended Posts

Okay, this might sound kinda dumb/freaky/fake,

i'm 16 and i *think* i'm balding.

my hair is kinda long so it is covering the bald patch up, but my hairline is rapidly receding at the left side of my head..my dad is bald, so it might be hereditary, stress induced, or maybe its just the gel i use kinda often (stopped like a month ago, but still balding)..can someone plz suggest how i can get the hair to grow back or something? like recommend tonics, shampoos, etc..

P.S: I'm very serious in this post, it is not a joke. I'm scared ****less, someone plz help me!! :(

Stress and worry also contributes to the problem.

Balding (although admitedly I do not have this) is seen to be a sign of maturity (I do have this :D) and is also sexually attractive to women. You cant fight nature, you can however go with it. People who hide bald spots usually dont do a very good job at it because the old flip over usually gets noticed.

I suggest a hairdressers experienced opinion on your hair line and I am deadly serious.

Thanks for your faith in Neowin to share this problem (I think)

um. i'm 16. i do not think gals would find a bald 16 year old very attractive :(

appreciate yer help :)

i've got a hairdresser friend, i think i'll go ask him about it. but he aint too professional tho..

Stress i cant prevent, i'm having a very major exam this year and i'm the top school of my country, i've got to do well :D

help help help.

basically. i'm so friggin scared i don't wanna tell anybody i know, so u guyz were my solution.. :old:

Try shaving your head like a marine. Eventually when you do lose your hair, no one will notice because they're used to a shaved head.

I shave my head and my hairline is ever so slowly receding (not as bad my brother though and he's 2 years younger).

You could try Rogaine or something.. ask your doctor.

I once had a neighbor friend who was almost bald (at least on top) by the time he was 18 or 19. I can tell you that he didn't seem to have a problem with women. He seemed to have a steady good lookin' gf.

Ask your father how old he was when he began balding. For some, unfortunatly, balding happens early in life due to heredity. Best advise I have for you is to see a doctor if it really concerns you - not a barber/hairdresser.

Go to a specialist. I don't know the english word for it. But the doctors who are specialized on the skin.

I saw a serious TV report that there are now new indeed working things, it stops the hair loss. The earlier you begin with the tonic (you have to apply it every morning and evening) the better.

I remember it costs a little bit; think about stop smoking and spend the money on your hair ;)

lol **** I wish I had you problems. Mate id kill to have hair loss problems. I suffer from Hair Gaining problems. Ive got enough hair to last me 10life times. Hell if you can find away to fix my problem ill donate my hair to ya

Locke - I went through pretty much the same thing -

I had always had very thin (even the individual strands of hair were very fine) hair. I am 28 now. When I was 22 I could have no haircut other than a caesar. (kind of like George clooney's) but even then I had to come to grips with the realization that you could tell I was losing my hair on top.

I have been completely bald for 6 years. love it. sure I get weird stares now and then especially being white with a shaved head people sometimes jump to conclusion that I am a skinhead.

till they get to know me.

I am to the point now where I WISH there was something I could put on my head to make the rest of it fall out permanently. (except my eyebrows :-P

You have a few options - I don't think stress is your issue - its mostly hereditary - your body is probably producing good amounts of testosterone and associative hormones now that you are in your "puberty" years - unfortunately a side effect of this is another chemical your body makes from excess hormones called DHT. for some reason this accumulates in your scalp. This excess hormone affects your hair follicle's chemistry prompting an auto-immune response and your immune system thinks that your own hair is a "foreign" body at which point your own body attacks the follicle causing it to weaken and the hair to fall out.

Though this is not 100% always the case - you may have low blood flow to your scalp - but this is the classic case of male pattern balding. (and sometime's in women with hormonal troubles.)

There are a few treatment's you can try - NIOXIN which is a set of shampoos and conditioners that stimulate blood flow to the scalp - you will feel tingling and your scalp will turn red and flush for awhile after use. This is a prevention treatment meant for before significant hair loss occurs.

Of course Rogaine - but you need to ask yourself " Do I want to spend the money and use this FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE" because that's what you have to do - if you stop rogaine - your hair falls back out - PERIOD. and its not even completely normal hair - its thinner and "fuzzier"

Or you can just accept your fate and shave your head. I recommend a good razor like a sensor excel - shave with the "grain" of the hair not against - and use a moisterizer. the key is tanning your scalp to have a natural skin tone to match your face and body - not pasty-white like most people who shave their head on a whim.

of course in the summer use a sunscreen -

The big thing is not to let it depress you - trust me on this its not worth it - I went through a period being ****ed off and depressed I lost my hair so young.

hope this helps some.

:D <--------------my head looks like this

Don't worry about it. I had a lot of perms when i was at that age and because of that i got bold, (I ALWAYS LOVED MY HAIR).Now I'm totally bold. A lot of my friends told me to shave it all.

After 6 months I did and i don't regret it, should have done it earlier. Everybody is saying that this is much better than half bold with thin hair.

I must say, now I have more confidence (strange isn't it).

Check the post a pic thread, I did put one there.

edit: I agree with plug8, but use mach 3 from gilette and after that use a braun shaving machine, after you used that its all smooth.

lol osiris ;)

i've alwayz had very thick hair, which made it kinda hard to style (hence the copious amts of gel came in)

its still very thick now, not noticable at all..(mum thought i was paranoid)

mebbe i exaggerated a little, but i usually comb my hair with a side parting when i dont wanna use gel, and now i find that the parting is growing bigger and the area around it is thinning compared to the rest of my head.. :(

i've also got white hair, but u gotta look at me for a while to notice it :cheeky:

why i got scared was because i'm just 16 and my frenz whose dad's are bald dont have this prob.

mebbe if it gets worse i'll just take it all off... where i come from, i have seen like less than 10 local skinheads walking around in my lifetime. :ermm:

I would schedule an appointment with a dermatologist. Although alopecia at age 16 is not that uncommon, it?s worth getting checked out. Could be many causes: nutrition, skin condition, stress, hormonal, viral, but most likely heredity. The dermatologist can take scalp samples if he thinks it is necessary. You may also get referred to an endocrinologist to see if your hormones are in check. Everyone looses about 100 hairs a day, it?s just when the hair stops growing back or grows much slower, that you have the problem.

ahh I wish I was blonde, then I wouldnt have black hair, I dont mind my head hair my facial hair ****s me I must have hit puberty too fast, because I had to start shaving when I about 14 1/2 and once you start shaving its just all down hill. I can shave in the mornming and by 5 boom there it is the 5 oclock shadow.

lol yeah it gives the "rugged" look so ive been told.

Apparently when russle crowe shaves, the week after he shaves in when women find him most attractive so womens weekly said Anyway after hes first week it goes down hill, so thats an idiciation of the unshaven effect.

hehe hope i dont catch im getting grey hairs and im only 18 :s

probably cause i been gelling my hair for the past 2 years to give me a massive quiff :)

i got ample hair thank god its just going grey : /

only noticable if i dont gel my hair for some reason so i gotta keep gelling

    • Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8, Flip 8, Z Fold Wide: Everything you need to know The ONLY thing I need to know is the price, which I know will be way higher than I (and most people) are willing to pay for a phone... so basically nothing here I need to know. PS: Nice job getting that Apple reference to a non-existent and unrevealed product as "competition" in there. Cheque is in the mail.
    • Well I really think the repasting helped if your higher clocks have returned, maybe the next thing to look at is if there is a problem with your case airflow? I guess this because your 3080 has returned to optimal state, but is still staying too warm, which might suggest it was thermal throttling before you repasted, of which the only logical conclusion could be outside factors.
    • Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8, Flip 8, Z Fold Wide: Everything you need to know by Hamid Ganji Galaxy Z Fold 7 - Image via Samsung The next generation of Samsung foldables is set to be unveiled next month at the second Unpacked event of the year. Samsung’s 2026 foldables are not expected to offer significant upgrades over their predecessors, with the Korean firm instead focusing on design refinements and conventional upgrades such as faster processors and better cameras. However, Samsung is reportedly planning to unveil an all-new passport-style foldable this year to rival Apple’s first foldable iPhone, which is expected to debut this September. Here’s a roundup of everything we know about Samsung’s upcoming foldable devices ahead of their official debut. When can we expect Samsung’s new foldables? The Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 series were unveiled in July, and Samsung is expected to maintain this timeframe in 2026. Based on previous reports from Korean sources, Samsung will hold its Unpacked event on July 22 in London, UK, to pull back the curtain on the Galaxy Z Fold 8 series. The devices are also expected to hit the shelves a few weeks after launch. However, Samsung has yet to announce an official date. A new naming scheme? One of the most interesting changes we might see this year is a new naming scheme for Samsung’s latest foldables. SamMobile reported that since Samsung is expected to unveil three foldables this year, it has adopted a new naming strategy to simplify product identification for customers. Accordingly, the standard Galaxy Z Fold 8 will reportedly be called the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra and will serve as the direct successor to last year’s Galaxy Z Fold 7. The “Ultra” suffix suggests the phone could feature higher-end specifications, such as additional rear camera modules. Samsung’s new passport-style foldable is expected to carry the Galaxy Z Fold 8 name without any suffix. This model is reportedly equipped with two rear cameras. No major changes are expected for the Flip model. Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra and Z Flip 8 anticipated specs Rumors over the past few months suggest Samsung is preparing several upgrades for its upcoming foldables, although the devices may continue to rely on larger batteries and faster charging speeds rather than dramatic design changes. The primary focus this year is expected to be the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and its wide-screen design. Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra official CAD renders - Image via AndroidHeadlines Here are the anticipated specifications for the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra based on previous leaks: 6.5-inch outer display and 8-inch inner display, 120Hz refresh rate, and 2,600 nits peak brightness Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, paired with 12GB or 16GB of RAM and 256GB, 512GB, or 1TB of storage 4.1mm thickness when unfolded and a weight of 210g 200MP main camera, 50MP ultrawide camera, 10MP or 12MP telephoto camera, 10MP cover camera, and 10MP selfie camera 5,000mAh battery with 45W wired charging Android 17 and One UI 9 As for the Galaxy Z Flip 8, the device is not expected to be a major departure from its predecessor, although it could become slightly slimmer. Expected specifications include: Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 or Exynos 2600 processor 12GB of RAM with 256GB and 512GB storage options 6.9-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X inner dispaly and 4.1-inch Super AMOLED outer dispaly 50MP main camera, 12MP ultrawide camera, and 10MP selfie camera 4,300mAh battery with 25W wired charging Android 17 and One UI 9 Samsung’s foldables are also expected to launch with Gemini Intelligence, Google’s AI suite for automating tasks in Android ecosystem. Moreover, given current memory and component costs, some Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra and Z Flip 8 variants could see a price hike. Galaxy Z Fold 8 adopts a wide-screen design The centerpiece of the upcoming Unpacked event could be the Galaxy Z Fold 8, previously rumored as the Galaxy Z Fold Wide. This model adopts a passport-style form factor and is expected to compete directly with Apple’s iPhone Fold. Galaxy Z Fold 8 official CAD renders - Image via AndroidHeadlines Here’s what to expect: 7.6-inch primary OLED display and 5.4-inch cover display, 120Hz refresh rate, 2,600 nits peak brightness, and 4:3 aspect ratio Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, 12GB or 16GB of RAM, and 256GB, 512GB, or 1TB storage options 4,800mAh battery with 45W wired charging 50MP main camera, 50MP ultrawide camera, and 10MP selfie camera Android 17 and One UI 9 The three new foldable phones are unlikely to be the only devices unveiled at Samsung’s Unpacked event. The company is also expected to introduce the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 and the Galaxy Watch 9 series.
