Program for commonly used programs to display on desktop or taskbar?

Does anyone know of a program that acts like the start menu in Windows XP? The specific part I'm looking for is something that keeps track of the most commonly used programs and displays them. The Win XP Start menu is a start but it only uses programs that are started from Start>Programs>etc.... I want something that is effected by all programs and if possible can be worked into my taskbar or other convienient location on my desktop.

Any ideas?

if you want your commonly used stuff on your taskbar just make set a new toolbar to the directory of the recent used documents. It gives you relatively the same effect.

i cringe and feel dirty for saying it, but objectbar by stardock will do that...hell, they even put out a special version called xp start bar that does just the xp bar for people in win98, me, and 2000...

I didn't really want documents... I kinda wanted the most commoly used Aps like the start menu in XP has. The problem with the start menu is that it only includes the most commoly used programs that are started through the start menu. So if I start it from C:/Program Files/.... then it won't register as being used.

Not sure if this was the solution you were looking for but why not just add the program to your programs start menu and then run the program from the start menu? As soon as you remove one of the recently used programs from the taskbar control panel, your desired program should show up right there in the start bar.

Objectbar is not an OS, nor is it mac based..where did that come from?
