IceDogg
Thanks semifamous, I know.. but I was hoping that these new tab Browsing options would do it without extensions.. my extensions list is getting gigantic. supernova_00
Staind: Tinderbox creates new build every 2 or so hours and the patches were checked in about 4 hours ago...I download a new build after the official release for the day and I have the options along with the other people in this thread. IceDogg: Remove any of those tabbed extensions so that they dont mess up anything and then use the same options as I have selected above. You do not need the Single Window extension anymore as long as you have both of the options that refer to using a single tab/reuse window selected. supernova_00
maybe restart firefox? supernova_00
IceDogg do you have a user.js file in your profile? if so you might have something in there that is overriding the settings. The Jorge
This must sound like a retarded question but how does one exactly back up their user profile? Do I just copy the profile folder located in C:\Documents and Settings\<<Username>>\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles? Thanks for any help in advance. The Jorge
Was I suppose to import the backup I made? I uninstalled Firefox after making the backup and reinstalled this new copy and my settings are all intact. That program suppose to work that way? Anyway. This is awesome. I can finally preview layouts from Dreamweaver in one Firefox tab! TBP was allowing me to see them in the same window, but it created a new tab everytime I would preview a layout. Is this going to be in the Final release of Firefox? Can't wait... Pink Floyd Veteran Posted September 30, 2004 Veteran Share Posted September 30, 2004 can you always hide the tabbar and use the ctrl+tab feature to switch from tab? supernova_00
kgraphik: you did the right thing. usually you dont have to start a new profile but its highly reccomended that you uninstall firefox and then install the new version (doesnt touch the profile like that) And yes it will be in 1.0. finalcut: try setting this to true 'browser.tabs.forceHide' IceDogg: just ignore that error. This is really hard to explain, well kinda...the server for QFA was/is down when that build was built so the QFA wasnt included and the installer doesn't notice that so it thinks its an error. Also try these settings in the screenshot below. EDIT: Just looked throught your user.js all is good there but your user.js  could be a number of things in there...those preferences override any option set in the program itsself. I'm gonna suggest you do a complete clean install of firefox and of your profile...of course you can backup your bookmarks, passwords and the other import things...but do not put that pref.js back in there! IceDogg
Ok I tried it and still no go. I'll just live with it. This is the problem I have been trying to fix from day one with Fx I used TBE for a while, but it messes up so many other things. Thanks for trying to help me. Outside of reformat (which is not worth it) I don't know what else to try. I totally removed all FX stuff and started over and it still doesn't work for me. supernova_00
ok, uninstall firefox, delete your whole profile (keep your bookmarks), run regedit. Search for and delete anything that contains "Mozilla" "Phoenix" "Firebird" and "Firefox" Do a custom install of Firefox, uncheck the QFA, finish install, Change the options as you wish...DO no use that pref.js file, the user.js file is ok though! everything should work perfectly! btw just to make sure what your trying to do can actually be done. Please explain again what you are trying to do and post links if possible...I just want to make sure I am totally understanding you correctly EDIT: Please tell me your OS is Windows? ehanson
I am glad that these features are finally in the branch, but the program still cannot trap window.open popups into a new tab. Is this planned for the future? arrrgh
IceDogg, if you are talking about links in gmail emails, they open in new windows because they are javascript links. These patches won't have any effect on them, there's a patch in the same bug that forces also javascript links into new tabs but I'm not sure if it will be checked in. It probably won't make it. Daybreak
Great stuff, can't wait for the 10-01 build to be released. On a side note, AiO Gestures is now at 0.12.5.
