how to write "jay" in Katakana?

Recommended Posts

Yes, that would be correct. The first character there is ji (as in gee in gee whiz), the second a small e (pronounced like the letter A) and the last is i (pronounced like the letter E). The combination of Ji and e make the Je sound (pronounced Jay) and the i at the end just exemplifies the y sound a bit more. So you would spell that like Jei (Jiei).

For instance, my name, Joey, could be spelled Ji yo u i. The Ji and (small) yo together make the Jo sound, u is like ooh, and i like the letter E. Jo u i.

Hope this helps some.
