0 Chicane-UK Veteran Posted October 1, 2004 Veteran Share Posted October 1, 2004 Well - Linux comes fully loaded with everything you need. Sendmail (enterprise grade SMTP agent), POP3/IMAP4 support, various webmail clients - can do it all. Though as you say you have an existing server, guess you won't want to reinstall it :) Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/224755-free-email-server-software/#findComment-584655799 Share on other sites

It is a Windows XP machine though, so installing Linux is really out of the question. Thanks for your input so far. Anyone else? 0 AQUaDeX
MailEnable http://www.mailenable.com Personally think it's the best Windows-based mail server around, powerful yet simple to use, the Standard version is free. I especially like its diagnostics feature, I didn't know some mail providers reject my mail if I do not set a proper PTR for my IP, and now with diagnostics I know :p Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/224755-free-email-server-software/#findComment-584656293 Share on other sites

Well, there is a port of sendmail for the Windows platform... http://www.indigostar.com/sendmail.htm It seems to be a direct port of sendmail, from what their webpage says. 0 +BudMan MVC Posted October 1, 2004 MVC Share Posted October 1, 2004 The best machine you have in the office is running XP? No servers huh, just peer to peer - thought about going to something like SBS? For ease of use and cost (FREE) and running on windows box, your best bet would be pmail - as Doug suggested already. A monkey could set it up and loaded with features. Spam blocking, etc..
