I was merging my two partitions last night with partition magic 8

and it was all working fine but at 99 progress partition magic gave error and now my one partiton has damaged its partiton table and is lost

windows can't read it it says it has raw file system

I need to somehow recover that partition (it contained all my mp3's over 5000 of them and lots of software)

Please can any one Advise some good Data recovery tools (freeware 's) ?

my partition had NTFS file system

What does partition magic show if you run it now and check the partitions? One partition with corruption, or two partitions, one good and one bad. did you try the process again? You may also want to run a complete scan-disk, enabling the Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors before you try to use partition magic for such chores again, although it should be able to handle things like that, you just never know. Always keep a backup of your data somewhere else too. Always.

well my one partition is absolutely fine but as for my other partition it says its unformatted and windows disk managent console says it has raw file system

i didn't keep a backup otherwise i wouldn't be in this mess and regularly check my hard disks for errors but didn't do it before starting merging

here's some links I found to data recovery programs on google just to start, but I was hoping we could also recover from the mess partition magic made and and just get general access to the partition as before. Try the Disk Recovery one, as it says it can read from raw data. If I had your PC here, I would bet I could get you out of that mess, nothing is guaranteed.

I had exactly the same problem... the ONLY tool for me that recovered anything was "Stellar Phoenix FAT & NTFS". You have to select an advanced scan and, if you want to leave it to complete, it will take several days (possibly a week) to recover; you will also need a blank harddrive with enough data to copy it onto.

PartitionMagic is deperately unreliable when it comes to partition merging... too many people have lost huge amounts of data trying it.

ya i had succesfully merged partitions with partition magic 7 but this version 8 has really taught me a lesson

well i already have a partition ready with enough space to recover it and i found a pack of getdataback on irc just downloading with a keygen

lets see if it works(i am hoping it works)

ok guys i recovered my partiton using getdataback for ntfs but now i have new problem

major portion of the data recovered is currupted like all the mp3's are merged with one another and all the pics and software are fully currupted

but some mp3 are fine but all id tags are gone and why did merge all the files up during recovery
