Foobar keyboard control

Question

Hi all,

I've done a quick search and couldn't find anything, but this problem may well have been raised before. I'm running foobar2000 (version 0.8.2 - haven't had a chance to upgrade yet) and have a Microsoft multimedia keyboard, one with play and pause and similar buttons at the top, and using intellitype five with this.

Basically at present when I press the next button on the keyboard it (surprisingly!) goes to the next track. I want it, however, so that when I press the next button it selects the next track at random, rather than just being the next track in the playlist.

It would seem like a similar problem to the Winamp5 one where the media centre buttons didn't work correctly. To correct this you had to turn off intellitype, then map the buttons by hand, and then restart intellitype. I've tried doing this with foobar however and it doesn't seem to work.

Any ideas?

Kill your keyboard software and/or bind the keys as global shortcuts?

This man (or woman) is right on the money smile.gif

Step 1 - Disable your keyboard software (type32.exe for ms keyboard users)

*For instance, go into task manager, and end task the proccess.

Step 2 - Foobar2k -> Prefs -> Core

*Deselect "Enable default multimedia keyboard support".

Step 3 - Go to Keyboard Shortcuts submenu

*Remove current multimedia key bindings (Play/pause, stop, etc).

*Find each of the above key bindings in the bottom menu, and

add them by ticking "Global Hotkey" and then pressing the desired

multimedia key of your choice, then clicking add.

*Once all multimedia keys are done, select "Save All"

*Close Foobar2k preferences window

Step 4 - Reload your keyboard manager software

*For instance, MS Keyboard users would go into their keyboard

control panel item, then key settings, then click "OK".

Step 5 - Test your new, working Foobar2k keyboard shortcuts with Foobar2k in the

tray smile.gif

Step 6 - If keys do not work 100% (happened with my play/pause with MS board)

*Un-bind the actions for troublesome keys in your keyboard manager.

The keys should now work without triggering extra actions that

they're not meant to smile.gif

Hope it helps you all! And thanks to the Foobar2k creators for making such a nice, light media player biggrin.gif
