what the hell is bad pool caller??

i keep getting those errors, now the comp won't boot, when it boots, it looks normal and then the bsod pops up and tells me that error occured and windows will be shut down to prewent damage to the system "bad pool caller"

i can go to the safe mode with out a problem, how can i fix it.

usally when i get that i have to use the win xp cd-rom, boot from it and use the repair windows installation option.

but i'm tired of doing that, does any one know what could be caosing that??

thanks

MSKB: (Some may not be applicable)

http://support.microsoft.com/search/previe...b;en-us;Q314492

http://support.microsoft.com/search/previe...b;en-us;Q310527

It seems that its a bad driver. Think of what 3rd party drivers you have installed and do some troubleshooting as to which is the troublemaker.

there is no driver list

the only thing that is tells me

is bad_pool_caller

then some stuff, like if you instaled something new reinstall it, if this happened only once restart and some other stuff

and then that technical information

stop: 0x000000c2 (0x00000007, 0x00000cd4, 0x040a0201, 0xeieef270)

how can i find out what is causing that

i might get something called 0&0 bluecon, my friend has that program, according to him and 0&0 it supposed to save you from bsod, i will try it, lets just hope i can still get in to the safe mode

note: bsod in win 98 was better, it explained the problem better
Actually You're Wrong, In NT These Are much better, because the parameters (Things in the parathesis) specify an action on that BSOD. IN 9x you got a bunch of stupid FFFF:0000 (Memory Adresses) and a File Name, which got you really nowhere.

stop: 0x000000c2 (0x00000007, 0x00000cd4, 0x040a0201, 0xeieef270)

Here's whats happening in this BSOD.. the parameters

0x07 Reserved Pointer to pool header 0 The current thread attempted to free pool which was already freed, then; 0x04 Pointer to pool header First part of pool header contents 0 The pool header has been corrupted; 0x40 Starting address Start of system address space 0 The current thread attempted to free kernel pool at user-mode address

I See Your BSOD'ing in 0xC2 Here is why...

Bug Check 0xC2: BAD_POOL_CALLER

Driver Verifier

its definately a driver issue.

Cause

A bad pool request has been made by the current thread.

Resolving the Problem

Activate Driver Verifier to obtain more information about these errors. For details, see Driver Verifier.

Use the driver verifier tool, to find out which is making the bad thread request. on the driver verifier page, there is A whole article; many pages which describe how to use verifier. if you do it right, you'll get right to the base of your problem.

Start > Run > verifier.exe

The websites above are GOOD Links, your best idea is to just copy and paste the text to your Address Bar in IE. Neowin send you to the wrong addressing if I link you.

Try This.

http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default....ols/dv_2ayb.asp

and

http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/en-us/dd....asp?frame=true

In Driver Verifier. If you haven't run this setup routing, try it ....

Start > Run >Verifier > Create Custom Settings(for code developers > Select Individual Settings From A Full List > then Select Special Pool and Pool Tracking.

This will Run On All Your Drivers, the Pool Testing, and figure out which one is causing the invailid thread call to your machine. also

if you're recieving "Driver Attempted to corrupt system" try "Last Known Good Configuration" I recieved this Stop Message the othernight after i was done swaping cases. i did last known good , and i'm back up running. you enter last known good from the boot menu, on startup press f8, choose your os then startup type, select "LAST KNOWN GOOD CONFIGURATION"

hope this helps.

don't just thank me

thank Microsoft and MSDN, Without those resources, hell i wouldn't have been able to help you.

I knew you'd figure it out, and from the start those drivers just looked too weird to me, i didn't mention it because you did a clean install, but windows xp has some issues with some IDE Add On Cards.. remember alwsy look at the WHQL Compatibility List.

I'm glad your happy.

Later!
