SP2 Installing error, HELP Pleases!

did you modify your shell32.dll?

try replacing it with an unmodified one.

First...stop :bumping:

Second...try booting to Last Known Good or using a Restore point (one should have been created either by you or Windows).

Third...if all else fails, you may have to reinstall. I recommend you slipstream SP2 to your existing XP disc if you can.

well did you hack shell32.dll and replace it? you should've created a backup.

otherwise, you should be able to find one on your cd, but it might be too old.

well, if you do it right, there's no problem.

Check in: %SYSTEMROOT%\system32\dllcache. It might be an older version than you had, but it will be newer than the one on your CD.

What is Gant? Did you find a copy in your dllcache folder?

Yeah i found the backup of the dll in the Guireplacer folder

well it's still a modified file. replace the modified one with the backup and try again.

replace the modified one with the default one.

I did some research on this Gant. If you customize protected system files, and then decide to apply a service pack, you should undo those changes before. You should have looked at the creator's website for GANT (http://www.devilindisguise.tk).
