Well I got my MCE 2005 working just fine, all drivers recognized etc... my damned TV doesnt work though... This little utility I downloaded from MS says I need an MPEG2 Decoder...

HMMM you think they would include one...

Eitherway, whatever.

Can anyone reccommend a decoder that they are using with their MCE05 install that works and doest fly the incompatibility flag or puts some HUGE logo on the top right of the screen of every movie you watch?

thanks!

Yes I bought a Brand New HP Media Center, but I dont get support from HP because I am not using their standard HP image I wanted a clean install minus all the software offers, AOL HP spy ware etc.

It works great with a clean install, I got the drivers directly from HP... the only thing that was giving me trouble is the MPEG2 decoder.

:)

Yes I am... I got my upgrade CD and TRIED to use my LEGAL key... It wouldnt work, so i called the tollfree number to obtain a new key and pleaded my case to the MS operator. He was he was kind enough to give me a key that would work with my existing install.

(Seeing as I had a legal copy - Proven, because I gave him that Key - which was registered to me when I ordered it from HP)

I thought it would be a big argument but he was like "Ahhh yes Mr. Dixon, I see you rigth here... ok so you need a key for the install you have now? let me generate a working key... Got a pen? here you go.. I will confirm with an email."

Then he remind me that my NEW CD couldnt be installed on another PC under penalty of Blah Blah Blah...

I was quite happy with the ease of it all... Microsoft certainly arent without compasion to your PC manufacturer crap image plight.

Good Luck.
