I was alittle hesitant to try it at first because i have never had good luck with opera betas before, but whoa is all i can say, this thing is blazing fast. Opening is about 4 seconds faster than before, and loading the pages is actually a whole second faster then my previous version, which was 7.54...

Great great build, im super happy now, thanks for the news.....

I didn't think it could happen but it has.... they have made opera even better. sq_yellow_biggrin.gifsq_yellow_biggrin.gifsq_yellow_biggrin.gif

For anyone who wants to get rid of the X's on the tabs, edit the skin.ini file in the skin's zip file.

Add the following to the end.

[Pagebar Close Button Skin]
Width = 0
Height = 0

[Pagebar Close Button Skin.selected]
Width = 0
Height = 0

why i think is actually better this way, the top of the program looks alittle less cluttered this way, but thanks for the suggestion tho, good to know we are able to do it, if anyone wants to.... :p

I like it better then P1, but i dont like the 'popup blocked from www.xxxx.xx' i didnt like that in firefox, or IE. Even removing that trash can icon made them appear from the bottom instead of the top.

Anyone no a way to turn them off? (proberbly staring me in the face but i just woke up :p).

But you can get to the point if you have lots of tabs open when you can't click on any tabs without closing them.

Plus I prefer using a mouse gesture or middle clicking on the tab to close it.

Two suggestions.

1) Tools > Preferences > Windows > Disable tool tips. Or if that doesn't work

2) Next time you see it, try right clicking on it. I know this works at least for the download complete pop up....

I also like using the middle click on the tab (I only wish Windows explorer had this same functionality ;). But those little buttons are nice and handy. When it gets too full to click on, Ctrl+TAB becomes your friend :p

Nope, didnt work :(. The right click option just says 'copy'.

I can't give you a full answer just now (I'm at college) but the basic idea here should work.

You would have to look in the meni.ini file and find the relevent part (just search for popup) then edit *.LNG file (english.lng if you have an English version) inside your Opera program directory (not your profile directory).

Search for the five digit number you found in the meni.ini file and put a ; before the entry.

I'm going to be going home in around 30 mins and I'll have a look.

Hmm, dont no if anyone else has noticed this, but on sites that have RSS feeds, opera displays 'RSS' in the address bar by the v arrow. Pretty cool.

@ the_maggot: Theres 3 x_menu.ini's. I tried standard, and searched for 'popup' - but there was loads, and i didnt find what i wanted. am i looking in the right place?

[Pagebar Close Button Skin.selected]
Margin Left= 2
Margin Top= 1
Tile Center= pagebar_close_button/selected_close.png

This gives you the X on only the active tab. sq_yellow_smile.gif

Go to Tools => Preferences => Toolbars and menus. Duplicate the Menu setup and rename it something appropriate (Rick13 would work). Now look this under your profile folder (can be under where you installed Opera, or under Documents and Settings) in the subfolder "Menu" and you should see it (on mine, it's called standard_menu (1).ini). Now you can change your Menu easily (Y), making sure Opera is closed before you save, of course.

    • What I like about Paint is using it almost exclusively for cropping and resizing images I get elsewhere--it's quick, easy and cheap... I keep it glued to my taskbar, in fact.
    • I still remember it fondly today. It was so cool to work in 64-color Half Bright mode and 4.096-color HAM mode (interlaced) when x86 was still in 4-color CGA or 16-color EGA low res. C= never realized what it had until it was far too late--the failure of C= was the failure of its top management. The C= Amiga was 20 years ahead of its time, I always thought. It didn't hurt that in only 512k of chip memory, the Amiga could preemptively multitask when Apple was still doing gray scale graphics on tiny screens and along with everyone else was doing cooperative multitasking (running more than one app at a time in resident memory, but you could only run one of them at a time--had to manually switch between them.) I had a ball with AREXX scripting running between programs that had AREXX ports so that when you sent other applications data and instructions, those running applications could process the same in real time to output! Memories...
    • I'm not sure about that, but it at least "does" a version of 7.1 that this brand new card doesn't....

    • I can barely recall getting web results from a file search... I must've turned it off long ago. 26H2 is Insider's Preview build 26300.8697, which I am running, atm. It is not available for people running the standard commercial builds of Windows--only for the beta test Insider's group. But anyway, as mentioned in the thread, this feature has been around for a long time...
