I tried this and I had all kinds of problems. The most obvious was that my bookmarks were gone. I could see them if I "Managed" my bookmarks, but they weren't in the browser itself! :huh:

I guess I'll wait until I see it on the official page. :cry:

I'm sure that this has been asked before but, why isn't it on the official page?

EDIT: Maybe, in order not to crash the server, they keep it with the nightlies, so the downloading is staggered?

They probably wont put it on main page. Cause RC1 is mostly a "testing" release.

If you're interested in testing these candidates and reporting bugs to Bugzilla, you can get them from FTP. If you've already downloaded 1.0 PR (the "feature complete" preview) and you're not particularly interested in active testing and bug reporting, then you should probably stick with 1.0 PR for a couple more weeks and upgrade when we release the official Firefox 1.0.

maybe. maybe they are waiting for it to get to all of the mirrors. maybe they just haven't gotten around to it yet. maybe they went out for a beer to celebrate.

well it messed up my firefox so i had to uninstall both, reinstall, uninstall, delete profile, install.

now its working and i like it. only problem is i cant install new themes like the inspirat one i got off deviant art. also i cant install some extensions, the pop up doesnt ocme. and i went into the profile and looked in the extension file and there was no max value in there.

i'm liking it so far. only problem is i still cant install that inspirat theme grrrrrr any help at all?

Is it just me or does the 'My Assistant' popup break? It opens in the same tab I clicked the link in.

The icons on the left of the Options window have changed.

Another thing I noticed. The tabs no longer reach the bottom of the tab bar. There's a 2-3 pixel gap now. I liked it like it was before. Where the tabs' bottoms would touch the top of the page.

All my extensions are working but 1 (MiniT - Drag+Indicator).

Ah well, nice update, but I think I'm going back to my copy of Firefox from 9/30. Has the single window update in it. :D

make sure you don't have it checked in your preferences (advanced > tabbed browsing) to force links that open new windows to open in the same window/tab. Also, they changed the default from the earlier october builds, so when you check either of those options it will redirect all new windows into tabs. there is a hidden pref to change this behavior...

browser.link.open_newwindow.restriction

0 = redirect all window.open() calls to tabs

1 = don't redirect window.open() calls

2 = redirect featureless window.open() calls

set it to 2, and it will allow popups that have a window size or that hide UI elements to open in a new window. setting it to 1 will allow window.open() calls, but will still redirect target="_blank" into tabs if you have that pref set.

if you don't set force inks that open new windows to open in (the same window/tab) or (a new tab), that hidden pref won't have any effect.

One of the core libraries (cURL) has been updated to address vulnerabilities and a nasty linker error that was causing the need for a dedicated patch which could now be eliminated.
