WinXP icons looks ugly on Win98.

A full slipstreaming is not possible, Windows 98 doesn't support slipstreaming. But, I added (in 2.0) a feature which is called "semi-slipstreming". If you extract SP2.CAB (which contains sipstreamable hot-fixes) from the SP into Win98's setup directory, Win98 will use these newer files during installation.

Hey all,

You know that there is an option for the mouse in Windows XP saying "Snap To" (check box) , Automatically move pointer to the default button in a dialog box.

I get used with it, and I would like to have it in Windows 98 SE too.

(because I'm using both systems)

So, Does anyone of you know if that is possible?

I've searched the web, but without any luck ... so if any of you know any application that makes it possible ... please tell me about it.

i think if you install logitech mouseware (its free and works with mice other than just logitech ones) you can do that. i remember seeing the snap to option in the mouse control panel. http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/download...,contentid=6003 is the download link. it doesn't have any spyware or viruses. i hope this helps.

I still have a 98 machine I use for playing old games.

98 is still useful. Thanks!

Last time I tried to use Windows 98... I installed all my software (granted, that is a lot of software).. the machine started randomly crashing every 1/2 hour  Kernel32 errors and the like... I went to XP and haven't had any problems since, on that machine or on my newer system.

Can we not ban trolls who come to this section of the board with no purpose other than to badmouth the designated OS?

Good idea to rephrase that statement.

should be, 'can we ban trolls who come to this section of the board with no purpose other than to badmouth the designated OS?'

My reading of what you wrote was that you want 'Trolls' here dissing the thread.

    • Microsoft now allows you to tweak Visual Studio to new extremes by Usama Jawad Visual Studio 2026 recently netted a powerful feature that finally allows developers to review Git Pull Requests (PRs) directly in the integrated development environment (IDE), without needing to switch to the browser. However, that's not all that Microsoft introduced in the latest version, as it also offered a useful way to customize the IDE to their heart's content. Although Visual Studio 2026 already provides lots of stock themes based on Fluent Design principles, Microsoft understands that people still want to customize them further according to their preferences. The IDE now offers a new configuration page for themes under Tools > Options > Environment > Visual Experience > Theme colors. This allows you to set hex color codes for accent colors, hover states, and more, and apply them without requiring a restart. The Redmond tech giant further says that: Microsoft is also offering granular color tokens that allow you to customize various UX elements like the tab header without impacting the rest of the shell chrome. Your themes are also stored in JSON format in %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\VisualStudio\18.0_xxxxxxxx\ColorThemes, which basically enables you to share it with others or override existing themes. This is a major improvement in terms of the user experience powering these customization capabilities. This is because extensions were required to replace the theme, and it was not very easy to make minor adjustments. This theme configuration UX solves this problem and is available in Visual Studio 2026 version 18.7, available here.
