Can i use the raid headers with standard ATA/133..

Recommended Posts

i am most likely buying this motherboard:

Gigabyte 7N400 Pro II nVidia Socket A ATX Motherboard / AGP 8X / Audio / Gigabit LAN / USB 2.0 / Serial ATA / RAID

i heard good things, and ofcourse bad things about this mobo (never found a PERFECT product), but i want to shift away from asus to try something new out.

i want to install 4 drives, and 2 rom drives, my question is, can i use the raid headers with the standard ata/133 cables without making the 2 drives in the slots raid?

here is a link to the description of the motherboard and picture.

i would assume i can. if i cant, i want to get a asus board that has extra hdd slots.

thanks people!

RAID is software-based, on-chip, and I think you are a little confused about it here. You can use your ATA/133 HDD's & Cable's to put two of the same ATA133 HDD's into RAID 0 or 1. However, you won't be able to use them on the SATA sockets. You can run your HDD's seperately or in RAID.
