Just a quick post, I see a few people have started posting MMX shell32 edits, and I know some other people are working on custom MMX icons (like I did) ... Anyway, the only problem is that the hue/saturation doesn't match (from what I've seen) so here's the way I did it, which matches quite a bit better since the MMX set is not pure black and white, they have a slight blue/blueish-purple hue (from what I can tell, lol).

In Photoshop, press CTRL+U to open the Hue/Saturation window. Check the "Colorize" box. Set Hue to 225 and Saturation to somewhere between 8-10. Click OK when you're done, and then navigate to Image|Adjust|Brightness/Contrast if you need to, but remember to reduce the saturation if you increase the contrast ...

Hope that helps. If you do it this way, you can match the colors almost exactly, this is how I got my zippers to match my file icons set (as well as the apple, which in this screenshot was actually an original Aqua apple - the blue one):

btw, if you want to see the difference the blue makes, slide the Saturation slider from ten down to zero, and see how at zero saturation (no blue) the icons look a little bit brown... :)
