Counter Strike Source Sound Problem

Recommended Posts

Well I bougt the Half Life 2 Silver Package today and decided to play some CSS, so i load it up and it tells me my GFX Card Driver is old and needs to be updated otherwise it may affect my gaming experience.

So I think ok thats fine, go to ATi site and get the latest drivers for me 256mb 9600XT, so then I load it up and play but I HAVE NO SOUND!!

My sound works fine with me music and everything else but I have no sound in game!!

I don't know what the problem is, i have directx 9.0c and latest drivers for me GFX Card also the sound works for everything apart from CSS.

Has any one else had this problem?? I Need HELP!!

I had a similar problem, although I stilll did have some sound, it was just very light and weak.

Even though I have surround sound speakers and my Sound Control Panel in Windows is set to 5.1, because I am using onboard sound it is actually really like 2 speaker output in which the onboard sound actually mimics 5.1 sound. Most games are cool with leaving the setting at 5.1, but with Source I had to set the sound to 2 speakers. When I did that it sounded great, so hopefully you are having a similar problem. So even though you may have 5.1 surround speakers, and your Windows Sound Control Panel may also say 5.1, try setting it to 2 just inside of Source, and that should hopefully help. Good Luck (Y)
