[Spoilers] Half Life 2 End

Recommended Posts

You know, I was just playing it again(on easy, going for crowbar/grav-gun only, It's a blast!) Anyways, the second chapter is called 'Red Letter Day'. Now, as some of you may know, in the Christian Bible, the text highlighted in red are the words that Jesus speaks. Therefore, I think the game is playing Gordon off as Jesus. He is also THE 'Freeman', which makes me wonder if he has some sort of resistance to the normal everyday human logic/thinking. G-Man also stands for 'Government-man', sooo...don't know where they wanted to take that. :| Although, it could stand for 'God-man', but that's stupid. D:

My thoughts on HL2: Un-****ing-believable.

My thoughts on HL1: Better than HL2 (One of the only reasons is the non-linear gameplay, like when you go into the tube, and the marine drops a satchel in it, blowing you out of the tube. The list goes on.)

Overall, I loved every minute of HL2, but imo HL1 was better. I'm also completing HL1 again, for like the 40th time, because I wanna make sure I didn't miss anything...again. And it's the best game ever made. Better than sex, most likely. D:

You guys are amazing... I have never ever FINISHED any game...

I have HL2 and I think I will be lucky to make it off the first level after months of play!

I am very impressed with anyone who gets to the end of the game!

How can you have never completed a game? It took me about 13 hours from start to finish. I got the game on friday, and I've just finished it now. For a game to take months to complete, you'd have to be playing no more than 10 minutes or so per night?

from what i gathered combines are mutated humans, near the end if you saw the skinny grey guys walking around inside the citadel , i think thoes are the combines.

They're stalkers, humans who've had their higher brain functions removed for use as slaves. That's where gordon was headed on the train at the start of the game.

Just finished it and gutted about a few things:

a) You can't come back to the game and go around some of the levels with the blue grav gun.. picking dudes up and throwing em inside the base was just hilarious.. and the effect when you threw them into one of those big blue energy fields and they just kinda floated there and got shocked or flopped out was probably some of the best effects i've ever seen in a game.

b) What happens to Alyx! You genuinely feel upset when she gets upset, so its kinda difficult now you don't know what happens to her?!

I'd just like to say that this is the best PC game I have played in some time, and i'm amazed it kept me hooked to go all the way to the end.. not many games have done that before I can tell you. Kudos Valve.. best game in a LONG time for me, and was worth every penny and every delay :)

Just completed it after about 15 hours. It was absolutely amazing. However, there was something missing, I cant quite put my finger on it, but the Aliens (headcrabs etc) just came from nowhere. In HL1, the reason the Aliens came was because the porthole thingy was open, allowing them to come through. In HL2, they were justherei> - or maybe i'm missing something?

There was also a distinct lack of Aliens imo. Yes, there were a few in HL2, but I miss killing those massive green tentacle thing:p:p

The headcrabs and all the other aliens appear after the Black Mesa incident when A lot Of portals started to open all over. Oh and of course they do reproduce like every other kind of organism

Edit: When i tried to pick the blue gravity gun back into the other parts of the game it had really bad effects on my computer. It would slow doen to about 2 fps and not ewven look correct when you threw something

Gordon isnt Headed to there. Hes already been. The start shows an image behind Gman with all the pods moving from the End of game level. So maybe gordon was called into action thus he works for gman and at the end the door is Gordon going back into sleep ready for his next mission.

actually you can, i forgot the command but it is somewhere in this topic. its something like... "give phys_cannon". And what happens to Alyx? Only HL3 will tell :D

Half-Life 2 was an amazing game - the best I've ever played, though SW:KOTOR was great as well.

I wonder if the expansion pack that Valve announced will continue the story, or if that will be left to Half-Life 3. I would prefer the expansion to do something completely different (though not a different character like Opposing Force, that was boring) and leave HL3 to finish off the Alyx/Gordon/GMan/Combine plot.

I liked the fact there was no big boss at the end of the game - that destroyed HL and OpFor for me. Being part of a clever plotline is far more rewarding that killing an enemy with higher hit points and limited vulnerablity. Valve did great!!

This is my opinion boys and girls:

Half-Life 1 standalone left me as confused as Half-Life 2 did.

Why am I not ****ed off?

2 games came out to help better understand the story from different perspectives, Blue Shift and Opposing Force.

Now, I haven't heard anything official, but I wouldn't doubt similar addons come out to help better understand the game, and its ending.

If you're really confused on the ending and overall what happened in the game, and Valve annouces an addon game that claims to "further the story of half-life 2" or something to the effect of that..... Wouldn't you buy it? I would, and will.

Milk, does a body good, just ask the creator of the Sims.

2 games came out to help better understand the story from different perspectives, Blue Shift and Opposing Force.

They were okay, but they felt a bit cheap and second rate in comparison to the original game (too shiny and clean, in comparison to the dark world of the original). I assume Valve is developing this new addon, instead of outsourcing again - if so then I expect it to be a very compelling purchase; they may even choose to bundle things like DoD:Source and HL:Source with it for people that don't want to / can't buy them off Steam (which would be nice).

    • Turbo Pascal was my first real programming experience more than 30 years ago at university. I mostly taught myself from the included examples and help documentation, because the university only taught the basic syntax and philosophy of Pascal, without going deeply into Turbo Pascal’s advanced features. I still remember when I discovered that I could embed assembly language directly into Pascal code, call BIOS functions, manipulate screen memory, use mouse interrupts, and control peripherals from my programs. That opened huge doors for me. Programming back then felt really fun, direct, and close to the machine. What I loved about Pascal was its readability and the almost instant compile time. Turbo Pascal was an amazing environment, but unfortunately Turbo Pascal for Windows 3 did not feel like it fully carried that legacy forward. Later, Delphi got things back on the right track after the messy transition to TP for Windows. Sadly, Delphi suffered from years of uncertainty as it moved from Borland to CodeGear and then to Embarcadero. That instability made many developers lose confidence in it, even though Delphi itself remained a powerful and productive tool. I still work with Delphi from time to time, but I definitely miss the old days of Turbo Pascal.
    • I hope this encodes in to AV1 or AV2 as currently tiktok uses h265 and h264.
    • Qualcomm reportedly in talks to build custom video chips for TikTok parent ByteDance by Karthik Mudaliar Qualcomm is reportedly in advanced discussions to provide custom chip-design services to Chinese tech giant ByteDance, the same company behind TikTok. According to a report from Reuters, Qualcomm could be involved in designing custom silicon tailored for ByteDance's massive data-center workloads. If it goes through, the deal would make ByteDance one of Qualcomm's early anchor customers for its fastly growing custom chip-design division, For years, Qualcomm was the king of making smartphone processors and modems. The company has also been moving into the PC ecosystem and other formats such as on-device AI for Android XR headsets. However, this particular deal is about Qualcomm's custom Application-Specific Integrated Circuits (ASICs). For a platform like TikTok, ByteDance needs hardware that can help it ingest, process, and serve billions of short-form videos daily. Generalised hardware is no longer the most cost-effective and efficient route, which is why ByteDance is trying to develop custom Video Processing Units (VPUs). VPUs designed specifically for ByteDance’s algorithmic needs could drastically reduce data-center power consumption and improve encoding speeds at an unprecedented scale. The underlying tech behind these processors is actually from Qualcomm's recent acquisition of AlphaWave Semi, a high-speed connectivity specialist company. By combining AlphaWave’s high-bandwidth IP with Qualcomm’s architectural expertise, the company could begin mass production by the end of 2026, if the talks go through. All this also comes at a time when U.S.-China tech relations have dwindled. Escalating trade frictions between Washington and Beijing have severely impacted the export of high-end AI chips from U.S. firms like Nvidia, AMD, and Lam Research. Yet, the Qualcomm-ByteDance discussions show that U.S. tech companies are still actively seeking growth avenues and are open to doing business with China, where regulators still permit. Reuters notes that the outcome of this deal could be uncertain, and ByteDance might also seek partners other than Qualcomm. via Reuters | Image via DepositPhotos.com
