How much money did HL2 make so far?

Just curious on how much money half life 2 made on its launch date (or to date). I know halo 2 made an incredible amount of money.

I have no idea. However they do expect to have a very large amount. More Halo2 + Far Cry got together.

More than Halo 2? Dunno, I would have thought a hyped console game would beat a hyped PC game in sales figures.

Not saying you're wrong, but can I ask why? I don't follow, being as there's a hell of a lot more PC users around the world than Xbox ...

because console games are simple, buy it, pop it in, play it. Pc games require the right hardware etc and can often be out of reach for a lot of people

PC Users or PC Gamers?

I could possibly be wrong, but the only way I can think of putting it is looking at figures for online games. CounterStrike is the most popular online game ever, with more players than the next two games in the online top 10 added together. This would lead me to believe it's quite a lot more than any console game. Of course, online gaming isn't the only way of measuring, but still ...

I guess there's also the fact that console games are more expensive than PC games, or at least, they are here.

Halo 2 made $125 million on day one. Half Life 2 is a huge release, but it'd be pretty hard to beat a sales figure that high.

That was gross. The company didn't acutally make that much money. Although I know several people that are buying Xboxes simply to play Halo2. Waste of time if you ask me. Its going to come out for PC soon :)

If you say so

Consoles just seem more accesible for buying games... I'm not doubting HL2 is popular (I preordered it myself, and it was the first PC game I've overheard other people actively talking about), but it just seems that consoles seem to be a lot more popular for gaming.

It would be amazing if HL2 beat Halo 2 though... I was particularly unimpressed by the original Halo.

    • Can confirm, I've built stuff for others and no complaints using their products.
    • Yes I agree, it's annoying. You can now miss tabs unless you point low enough.
