PC Gamers: Refusal to buy consoles

Recommended Posts

Any person who claims to be a gamer and likes RPG is high on crack if they think PC's offer better titles RPG wise.

fallout >final f. or fable or most others

I refuse to play FPS games on Ps2 And Xbox becuase I am way faster with a keyboard and mouse then a controller. That and the games are smoother and play better especially in a real multiplayer invornment.

the KB/mouse has a lack of motion where on the other had the xbox controller is easy to controlle

And if your a fan of fighting games good luck with your PC. You'll probably never play Tekken or Soul Calibur. And it's truly a shame your missing out on all the great games you have missed out on becuase you think the console market has nothing to offer you.

by missing Tekken and soul calibur they are lucky. but like you said "if your a fan of fighting games" im not in to Fighting games.

Unlike Most, I've found other uses for my PC. Getting it to render some game, and having it look as if there is some form of rendering problem, with great hardware; compared to a console with perfect specs is not my thing.

I sometimes don't see how people argue that a keyboard/mouse has better control than a console's native controller. It really doesn't make much sense.

Neowinians will be Neowinians...

i just real lies this, if you have a console you could just buy a console keybord and a PC gamer can buy a contoller/joystick.

who agree with me that PC and Console combo is better then just PC or Just console.

I haven't owned a console since the original playstation debuted.  I'm NOT a console gamer, 90% of the best and most influential games ever have come out on computer.

Consoles are mainly for the people that dont want to bother with the technical knowhow of computers, they want something they can just drop in and play.

Any game thats worth its salt that has come out on the console, ALWAYS comes out on PC, but not visa-versa.

What he said. And about the fanboy part, yes I'm a complete PC fanboy, can't stand consoles.

Let's see... maybe because it was the PC Gamer and the PC that developed gaming and graphics to the level it is today? Gaming has always been pushing the envelopes of graphics and processor capability. Not to mention, upgrading a PC is as simple as replacing a part, whereas you have to chuck your old console when the next rotation comes around. It may be expensive, but you gotta pay to play (especially at 1600x1050 full AA and textures). Oh, and then there's the fact that I can alt-tab out of a game to handle surfing, chat, music... and there's also the fact that I can load whatever I want on my PC without some lame patch from M$ killing my mod (at least for now).

Just my $0.02

Didn't realize this is a psudo-hot topic.

I have a PS2 and a Gaming PC. I don't see either type dying. The whole thing about console's replacing a pc always comes up until pc's shoot past them and vice versus.

Each have there place. FPS play much better on the pc since you can upgrade the video and natively support keyboard / mouse compared to fps on consoles.

There are a lot of games that do better in console / controller format.

A true gamer will play the games they like on what ever system supports it and they will get newer pc or newer console to go where the games where.

The way I look at it, Star Ocean Till the End of Time sounds / looks great on my HDTV with dolby surrond sound and Doom 3 is awesom on the pc with head phone with the lights turned off.

i have a xbox and 6 comps i think tht the xbox and all consold are crap crap graphics ages loding ect and u allways have this battle agast consoles cos u cant upgrade them PCs have far betta graphics and gameplay and are so much faster PC is jus the best full stop

That's not going be how it is soon. With the next-gen consoles. The XBOX360 will already rival most gaming PCs. And the PS3..well even more..

Revolution will be different. ^_^.

So what the PC will be good at then is multitasking. Actually the reason why I prefer playing games on the PC vs the consoles is for a couple reasons.

1) Modding. It's fun to mod and brings life into games I otherwise would've stopped playing a long time ago.

2) Multitasking ability

I've always been a PC Gamer fan, and have been so since after the Super Nintendo!

But these new consoles look like they are going to be really sweet. So I'll probably pick one up when they come out :D. Not sure which one. I think it will probably come down to which one has the game I want to play.

PC Gaming is too expensive. I'd rather invest in a nice HDTV and sound system for games, and use just a laptop.

I bet the next gen of gaming will come with keyboards and mice too.

I'm more of a console gamer, the only games that I ever really dug on the PC were Half Life and the GTA series. Consoles are better for most games like racing , platformers and fighting types, IMO and I'm a big fan of the racing ones, especially Wipeout and Ridge Racer.

Maybe it would've been different had I grown up with a PC, rather than a NES.

Everyone has a different opinion on the matter

Some people just generally don't want a console

If they are a PC gamer too that doesn't mean they're some kind of fan boy who refuses to buy a console

It's not so complicated :alien:

ps. PS2 is crap :p

pps. I can't wait for the xbox 360 :D

Got an Xbox as a gift. Oh my god! It's obviously geared toward the young crowd with poor attention spans.

I went out and rented 5 of the top 10 games, just to see the best it had to offer.

Please! Can it get more simplistic? Graphics are HORRIBLE! On par with what the PC offered about 5 years ago, and I'm running it on a 53" HDTV!

The only game I moderatly enjoyed was Tiger Woods 2005. But it's so simplistic on the xbox, compared to the PC version. I was shocked on how bad the courses looked. It was nice, though, to play a round of golf without all the "sim" features.

So, I modded it into a media center. Processor is to slow do do what I want it to do though. Ebay time!

A. Gamepads suck.

B. Computer games are better.

C. Console games are for 3 year olds.

D. My computer chair is comfortable.

that was the least intelligent thing i have ever seen anyone type on a forum and i have seen some stupid things.

    • The laptop in the bedroom is an Acer with i7-10510U CPU. Acer's website states they will not be upgrading it so I had little choice other than disable secure boot. I know next to nothing on these matters so hopefully it will be fine.
    • GitHub removes manual model selection from Copilot free and student plans by Karthik Mudaliar GitHub is removing the ability to manually select an AI model from its Copilot Free and Student plans, making its automatic routing system the default and only way to choose a model. This means users on these tiers will no longer be able to deliberately select a particular OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, or Microsoft model for a task. In its announcement, GitHub said Copilot Auto will dynamically choose what it considers the best model for each request. Free and Student accounts will retain access to models from multiple families, although the available selection will continue to depend on the restrictions attached to each plan. GitHub did not identify a fixed pool of models that Auto will always use, and its documentation warns that model availability can change over time. GitHub describes Auto as more than a random fallback system. On supported surfaces, its task-optimization technology evaluates the complexity of a request alongside real-time information about model health and availability. Straightforward prompts can be routed to faster and less expensive models, while more demanding coding tasks may be sent to higher-cost reasoning models. The company says this approach should reduce rate limiting, latency, and failed requests. Auto generally selects one model along natural prompt-caching boundaries rather than repeatedly switching models during a session, as GitHub found that mid-session changes increased costs without producing sufficient improvements in output quality. Users can still check which model generated a response. In Copilot Chat, the information appears when hovering over an answer, while Copilot CLI and the Copilot cloud agent display the selected model alongside their output. Auto is available in Copilot Chat, Copilot CLI, and the cloud agent, with the exact implementation and release status varying between supported development environments. The latest restriction follows several months of adjustments to Copilot’s individual plans. GitHub temporarily halted new Pro, Pro+, and Student subscriptions in April as it sought to manage demand and service reliability. It later introduced token-based billing and began gradually reopening individual-plan registrations on June 17. Alongside the picker change, GitHub is retiring the “Preview” label from Microsoft-developed models. It argues that the label is no longer necessary because Auto handles model routing and models are continuously updated behind the scenes.
    • Look up 'inflation' kid. Ask an AI for the numbers between both games.
    • Google reportedly set to lose two key Gemini and DeepMind researchers to Anthropic by Karthik Mudaliar Google is reportedly preparing to lose two more prominent artificial intelligence researchers, with Gemini contributors Jonas Adler and Alexander Pritzel planning to join rival AI developer Anthropic. According to a report from Bloomberg, both researchers are viewed internally as important contributors to Google’s flagship Gemini model family. Adler worked on Google’s AI coding efforts, while Pritzel was involved in the process used to train AI systems. Neither company has publicly confirmed the moves. The report also does not say when the researchers will formally leave Google or what positions they will hold at Anthropic. Training a large AI model requires decisions covering its architecture, data preparation, distributed computing infrastructure, and post-training methods that shape how the finished system behaves. Researchers with experience operating at the scale of Gemini are consequently difficult to replace quickly. Both Adler and Pritzel have previously contributed to Google DeepMind’s scientific research as well. They are listed among the authors of the company’s work on expanding AlphaFold protein-structure predictions across entire proteomes, alongside AlphaFold researchers including John Jumper. The reported departures arrive shortly after another important change within Google’s Gemini organization. Gemini co-lead Noam Shazeer is leaving Google for OpenAI, after returning to the search company in 2024 through its deal with Character.AI. Shazeer is particularly well known as one of the authors of the Transformer paper, whose architecture became the foundation for most modern large language models. Anthropic, meanwhile, has been recruiting recognizable figures from other leading laboratories. OpenAI co-founder and former Tesla AI director Andrej Karpathy joined Anthropic’s pre-training team in May. His move, followed by the reported recruitment of several Google researchers, suggests Anthropic is strengthening the research teams responsible for the core capabilities of future Claude models rather than concentrating solely on product and enterprise sales. The competition is complicated by the companies’ extensive commercial relationships. Anthropic competes directly with Google’s Gemini models, but it also relies on Google as an infrastructure partner. In April, Anthropic announced an expanded agreement with Google and Broadcom covering multiple gigawatts of next-generation Tensor Processing Unit capacity.
