ATI Drivers for my 9800pro

Recommended Posts

Hey,

I seem to have problems installing new drivers for my Radeon 9800pro. Im currently using old omega drivers and i wish to upgrade to the catalyst 4.11 (HL2 drivers) to increase performance on HL2.

But the thing is every time i upgrade to catalyst drivers my computer goes bung :pinch:

After the restart my computer, the windows and start menu and everything else has a massive lag. For e.g MSN messenger automatically pops up when I turn on my computer... and when iv reinstalled new drivers the windows tend to "Slide downwards, or lag... I dont no how to explain it.

In other words the drivers stuff up my computer.

How do i install those catalyst drivers properly so i dont encounter any stupid errors.

Thanks :happy:

New DNA drivers have been released. These are modified/hacked ATI Catalyst drivers, use them at your own risk. The drivers have been optimized with two things in mind, better Image Quality and more/stable frames per second when compared to the Beta Catalyst drivers from ATI.

VERSION:: DNA-drivers 3.3.4.12b - DNA-drivers Help 2 Survive Action

    * This driver is dedicated to "ratman's" wife. We all hope that she will get better very soon.

    * Based on the Beta CATALYST (4.12) 8.08 drivers

      - guru, this beta should fix "Random hanging with certain games on certain systems when using the PunkBuster server." BUG

    * Added New DNA-drivers Half-Life2 Install Option

      - this option will boost your HL2 and Source engine based games.

    * Added New DNA-drivers theme to the installation

      - all icons in the CP and start-menu get the theme chosen

      -:Canada

    *  Fixed Dutch Theme Installation BUG (wouldn't install on certain systems)

    * HW IDCT the kernel load raises up to 80% problem for ATI 9700 mobility

      - should be fixed. (thanks to: zerocom)

    * Added and Updated support for:

      -:ATI MOBILITY FireGL T2

      -:RADEON MOBILITY 9000/9100 (thanks to: =DST=tinuz97)

    * Updated support for:

      -:Radeon X800 Series

VERSION:: ATI Tray Tools 1.0.1.405

DNA Drivers are probably the best drivers out there for ATI, I use them with my 9800 Pro and cannot be happier! Best graphic quality and more steady FPS! :woot:

DNA-Drivers

Download the uninstaller program from ATI, do not uninstall it via the device manager. Unplug yourself from the internet because windows like to install the drivers again without your input. Reboot. Once your back up again, install the 4.12 drivers plug in your line back in for interent and reboot. (Y)

I used to have a similar problem i think and i used the ATI uninstall program to remove everything ATI before i re-installed any drivers and that sorted out all my problems. BTW i use the DNA drivers which have an option that supposedly increases performance on HL2.

there is a tool out there called Driver Cleaner 3.1

(Copyright © 2003-2004 Ruud Ketelaars). I had to use it once when the ATI Uninstall was not enough. (I changed my nVidia for a 9800 Pro and this was the only way to get rid of the video driver residues.

HL2 works flawless with Cat 4.12b so far - do you know any comparisons with Omega drivers, Neutral Catalyst or DNA drivers?

nope it didnt work. I still get that "roll-down-effect" thing happening to any windows.

Im going to try those DNA's

hmmmm, that roll down effect ur on about sounds like the "Fast Writes" option to me....straight after i install new Cat drivers, when windows starts up, its as if im loading a webpage....the images on screen seem to load from top to bottom...

Id reecomend to anyone on a pre X800 card to disable Fast Writes and VPU Recoverer....they seem to cause more probs for us mid range Radeon owners imo

Try it and see if it stops afterwards :) (disable VPU Recoverer first, cos Fast Writes needs a reboot)...

Hope this helps :)

It seems to have that problem for me for about a minute after I start my computer up. If you read the setup, it says that the drivers, after you reboot, will be performing some diagnostic-type sequences, which is my guess as to what it is. If you keep it running for a bit, the effect should go away...

    • Yeah, this is absolutely nothing new and EA have done it before. Burnout Paradise, released in 2008, had dynamic advertising billboards that were updated via the internet and targeted people based on location and what EA knew about them from their profile. It was particularly notable for the fact that the Obama presidential campaign ran ads in the game, in an attempt to reach a younger audience who didn't watch broadcast TV any more. It was by no means the first though. Battlefield 2142 from 2006 had the same thing. In fact, Neowin wrote a story about it back then. https://www.neowin.net/news/ba...-in-game-ads-clarification/
    • This is obviously aimed at the education where Apple has lost so much ground to Chromebooks in the last few years, but unless they come up with a comparable management system for education why would anyone switch back?
    • Here's how we arrived at that claim: Note that this is just Play Store downloads. The app is also available on the Galaxy App Store
    • Google Play states the app had more than 50 million downloads. What other metric do you suggest should be used?
    • MSN defined our generation in some ways, kind of like Snapchat and TikTok have done for future generations. I have great memories of the MSN era in the late 90s / early 2000s. In the UK everyone seemed to come home from School and go on MSN for the evening. We didn't really have mobile phones then, so other than going and knocking on your friends door it was a totally new way of interacting with people. I also loved how I could talk to people I’d met playing online games from around the world. Inviting people to NetMeeting and messing about with the shared white board and webcams was pretty fun, even if webcams only ran at a couple of fps over dial-up. All the random things you could do with MsgPlus! were really fun - I suspect that made a few people jump with /shello randomly blasting Mr Hankey out their speakers! Maybe I’m just nostalgic, however I do feel the internet and computers were more fun back then.
