A friend of mine is running XP...

But for some reason he cannot delete ANY files on his computer... even after formatting it a few times he cannot... and he is the mian (admin) account holder.

Anywya i told him he can delete files through DOS

using the

rmdir c:\*path* /s

command

can someone please tell me how to get into DOS in XP as i dont use it

Might be because some of the files in the folder has a path longer than 256 chars. There are a few things you can do.

1. Try to flatten down the structure and try again.

2. Do a search for all files and folders (standing in the folder) hidden and system files included and delete only a bunch of files at a time (from the result list)
