I have used godaddy for a few years not also for my domain reigistar. As for hosting, I would try SurpassHosting @ http://www.surpasshosting.com

The prices look to good to be true, but they are just that good. I get 5gig file space /100gigs Bandwidth/month.. all for only $59 a year.. which figures to $4.9 a month.

I use hostonce.com for neorequest. It seems really nice. I think timdorr has a web hosting company. SimpleOranges or something like that.

I would have to agree with imation. ASO is supreme. The first one listed has only MS hosting, ASP, no mysql or apache. But that is all based on your needs. ASO just has excellent customer service and support.

Not everyone is as rich as you Mr Booga Booga

Shopping carts are available via the Fantastico package that most hosting companies offer.

Been very impressed with ASmallOrange - very quick response to support request, and a professional package whichever way you look at it. Has shopping cart facilities in the CPanel I think as well!

I don't think it is a matter of cost. Using Linux or BSD, you can host it for free.

However, your ISP terms and conditions may not allow this. Also, bandwidth may end up an issue (depending on how many visitors you expect, and the content you provide).

Plus, going with a paid 3rd party, you can get professional support, rather than self-service. You can also easily get advanced features, like the 'shopping cart' thing you mention (sometimes for a small extra fee)

If cost is the overriding concern, self-hosting is a valid and inexpensive option.
