Today's early (early) updates:

<> Fixed code to make sure you must be logged in for any features to be enabled (question is, how was that code ever removed?) (Found By: take_the_veil)

<> Killed images created during above bug (Sorry guys, you'll have to upload again)

<> Fixed file link not being able to be used on forums (Found By: take_the_veil and confirmed by Gelob)

<> Add total useage of bandwidth and files to bottom of page (Idea: Jack Pearce?)

<> Fixed graphical glitches in some icons on the File Manager

<> Fixed "Fun Facts" at the bottom of main page (Found By: FaX)

<> Created full backup of site

<&gtWeeeee! Purchased nfiles.net and pointed to subdomainb>

<> Bug noticed, but not tracked down: Average Total Bandwidth somehow reset. Unsure why, but will be monitoring and tweaking.

Also: I will be merging the NeoIMG code into NFiles, so you may select images from your NFiles account and create a random signature.

Off to bed. More work later today (when I wake up)

Tonight's Update:

<> Located holes that allowed users to find and access the file storage folder (Found By: SkyyPunk)

<> Protected user folders against direct access

<> Styled file preview screen and added BBCode Section below details

<> Added more file information to details screen

<> Added new links to left section -- many still disabled

<> Removed old DELETE page that had outdated links (Noticed By: Gelob)

<> Styled new DELETE page based on file preview page

Thanks for helping de-bug the beta everyone! We're not done yet!

Sorry, not much to say tonight. Most of the coding tonight is for a section that most of you will never see, nor care to see (Administration CP).

But wait, there's one:

<> Fixed IMG linking problems with other forums (Found By: Gelob)

You guys should have no problems linking images to any forums now. Just get the new IMG BBCode from the File Manager and away you go!

Just for kicks, and to show off the new IMG code, here's a shot of the Administration CP as of now:

[IMG=http://nfiles.nwserver.net/images.x/1093501497.gif]

(That's the only shot I'm giving out of the CP. Now go away! :p)

Alright, the evil thing is happening again.

I'm trying to upload a 200kb image, it says "yay, I just uploaded", but there's nothing there.

Apparently it's not all files, either...

Have to hit the sack, will update later today on situation.

Well wham bam and the uploads are working again. What did I do? Nothing. Honest.

I've started work on NeoIMG - the dynamic signature portion of NFiles. I might not have time to do it tonight, as I have to help out a friend with some more coding again...and my Mac Mini should be here by then. :)

Hmm...I wonder if we can merge this with the graphic artists part of NeoRequest? Once I see this in action, maybe we can work on something...

I'm not exactly following - care to elaborate?

OK let me see if I can put this brainstorm into words. Currently, artists upload a file for a graphic request into NeoRequest, and then the system automatically FTPs the file to our file server location provided by Frank. So since you offer the image upload location, and it seems to be on a user-to-user basis...I was just thinking that would be cool to be able to FTP these graphic files into their nFiles location. Then they could see the files there or on Neorequest (one location). Also, I was thinking about adding the ability to view other artists work, like viewing their portfolio.

Hmm, but I see problems now that I think about it. Because you can remove files through your interface, and if they remove a file, then it will be a blank link on NeoRequest. That could get nasty. Oh well. You see where I was thinking now?

Blackice, you ever figure out a way to prevent the file extension change?

If you cant remember ill refresh your mind.

A user can upload any file at the limit as long as its in the correct format.Meaning a user can upload a avi or a swf if they have it like .swf.jpg.Ive been thinking to maybe have the script scan the file name for other common extensions in the file name.

I've already figured out a way to protect against fake file names (mime types), but it's on hold until I fix this gosh darn upload problem.

Since Nfiles is made for neowiners maybe you can make the Nfiles site look like Neowin.net? Its just a suggestion.

OH and good work, 3 thumbs up (Y)(Y)(Y)

That's something I'm trying not to do. I want it to have its own feel.

this isnt a major bug...more of a very very small bug...I just logged in to nfiles, and in the middle of the screen is says Uploading... (just the text)...however I am not uploading... :) I have erased cache and refreshed, and it still showed...

Whats up with this?

AFAIK, I was wating for you to e-mail me back. -- Though the system is working again.

Wen will the random sig thing be out?

NeoIMG ?

585446480[/snapback]

It's merged into the NFiles code, so it will be out when NFiles is completed.

Attention Readers: Please Abuse NFILES. Upload! Small! Large! But Legal! Let me know if it does NOT work.

blackice, you never told me 2 email you.I PMed you and u never PMed me back. Please let me host it so we can finish this :). I really love what you are doing.

    • What are you on about? Not all 'AI' is the same, and AI in security it's a serious tool (Unfortunately it's good for both defence and threat actors, so it's currently an arms race). Recently discovered a 27 year old bug in OpenBSDs TCP stack, and will continue to find CVEs at a rate that human researchers/developers will never be able to match. I'm not a fan of the 'creative' AIs which stop people actually being bothered to think for themselves, but when it comes for looking for pattens (e.g Cancer screening photos), or finding weaknesses in software it has serious benefits.
