Omega Radeon drivers and window drawing

Recommended Posts

I just installed the newest Omega drivers for my Radeon 9800XT, and it's running horribly in Windows. I think for some reason Windows isn't using my graphics card to draw things. When I right click for a menu to fade in, it's like a slideshow of five frames. Any window that needs to draw constantly takes up a lot of CPU, especially Task Manager.

Does anyone have a solution for this? Thanks.

i have the 9800XT and well i was running the ATI drivers that were lagging on loading any new windows.... then i switched over to the

Omega drivers.. 4.11 based on the beta.. and they work way better then ATIs drivers... i wouldnt go back!

Only thing is you have to fully uninstall ATI drivers and then install the omega drivers...

On the website expect new omega drivers this week.. based on the 4.12 drivers

I just installed the official 4.11 drivers and it's still doing the same thing. Do you think this could be a conflict between my ATI TV Wonder and my graphics card?

Edit: I was trying to uninstall the drivers for my ATI TV Wonder, but I can't find it in the Device Manager. I physically removed the card from my machine a month ago because I wanted to put it in another computer, so I don't know if the drivers are just hidden or if Windows automatically uninstalled them.

Omega's 4.12b will be released sometime this week, as he says on his site.

My guess would be that the drivers are hidden, because when I pulled out my NIC without unistalling the driver, I got all sorts of errors on the next boot, and i had to manually remove them. Might be different for a vid card, though.

right click 'my computer' > properties > hardware > device manager

You're kidding, right?

Anyway, you don't need to uninstall the drivers. They aren't being used because the device is gone. They don't even apply to the Radeon, so I don't see how they would be conflicted... I've heard of some Driver Cleaner software, but I've never used any, so I don't know what to get...

Start>Run "dxdiag"

click on the "Display" tab and make sure under "DirectX Features" all three options are enabled.

    • Nvidia GeForce NOW gains support for seven more games as discounts continue by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe There's a brand-new update rolling out to Nvidia's GeForce NOW streaming service, and like every week, that means more games have received support on the platform. This week's drop has additions like Aphelion and Pro Cycling Manager 26 attached to it. Don't forget that the GeForce NOW summer sale is still active too. This limited-time offer drops the 12-month Performance membership from $99.99 to $64.99, saving members $35. At the same time, the 12-month Ultimate membership is currently going for $129.99, dropping the price by $70 from the original $199.99. Moreover, Nvidia reiterated that support for GOG single sign-in and game library is incoming this summer, joining stores like Steam, Ubisoft Connect, Battle.net, and Xbox. "Connect supported game store accounts and stream titles with GeForce RTX power. Games that include cloud-save functionality help keep progress intact across devices," added the company. "Start a game on one screen, pick up where playtime left off on another, and spend less time managing installs and storage space." Here are the games joining GeForce NOW's supported list this week: Embers of the Uncrowned Demo (New release on Steam, available 13) Pro Cycling Manager 26 (New release on Steam, available June 15) Aphelion (Steam) Citizen Sleeper (Epic Game Store, Free from June 18-25) Megastore Simulator (Steam) OPERATOR (Steam) Super Meat Boy 3D (Xbox, available on Game Pass) Keep in mind that, unlike subscription services like Game Pass or EA Play, a copy of a game must be owned by the GeForce NOW member (or at least have a license via PC Game Pass) to start playing via Nvidia's cloud servers. There is also a limit to how many hours subscribers can use the service per month, with extra time being purchasable in chunks.
