Okay, I'm sooooo glad they brought the "Half-Life 2: Team Deathmatch/Deathmatch", but already I'm bored of the 2 maps. When the UT2004 Demo came out with 1 Onslaught map I got addicted for weeks playing it and patiently awaiting the full version to come on sale.

With this mod I'm only addicted to grabbing that rocket launcher and camping with it (mind you, we do need the sniper rifle in the game...any sniper rifle will do).

I think what bored me was the lack of music in the background, because there was none. When I joined a Deatmatch round all I could hear was the same SMG firing from everyone at every angle (it got quite tedious). Then I joined a Team Deathmatch server and this has a more fun element to the mod.

I do hope that after they've sorted out some of the problems people are having, that they'll create some new maps and an MP3 player to play our own music in the background if they don't release their own...even though the soundtrack from HL2 was great whilst playing...talk about adrenaline ;)

Other than that - great game & add-on, and already I've heard of mappers creating their own maps, only time can tell ;)

Yeah new maps would be great and music would be alright, then again music might take away from the factor of hearing when ur enemies are coming around the corner.

lol, like in a 32 person server, you have time to hear that....not

lol man, its only been out 24hours (if that)....yeah, they could have added a few more maps to start off with, but i reckon they just wanted to please some fans cos of the probs allot of users have been having.....although it could also be to give people the feel of need to enter the mapping compatition :)

Anyway, wont be long till ur bored of downloading gazillions of custom maps lol :p

My vote would go for background music and more maps. That SMG firing is annoying after a while lol. Especially in 20+ player servers, that's all you hear. There are some maps made already, but more maps to start with would have been better... even if there were only 4 that would still be better than 2 lol. :pinch:

actually im not really looking forward to dod:s because its going to have the exact same textures but with new physics... i would prefer if it actually had improved gfx... i am personally looking forward to the ww2 mod "the last great war". hopefully it will be as good or better than dod and have better gfx.

    • I think the car analogy is more this: Left hand drive, basic commands on the left side of the infotainment screen. Right hand drive, basic commands on the right side of the infotainment screen. Granted, you're not swapping between the two often so it's doesn't really work. But it's to do with the proximity of you (your mouse, or the driver) to the controls.
    • I mean, the old one was broken and so stupidly complex for many users, so I don't see that as a feasible option. A context menu needs to be simple to use, and for me the Windows 11 style actually worked really well for me, and many others. I used to have to scroll the damn context menu just to get to "file properties" in Windows 10. That was not a good experience, and I'm sure you'd agree. What they're trying to do is make it the best of both worlds, as clearly you'd prefer the Win10 style. I'm curious how they're going to do this.
    • The "Show more options" has its place, as does the simpler context menu, but it should perhaps be a separate fly-out rather than relaunching the entire, old context menu. The old context menu was getting absurd in Windows 10. Often I'd have to make the context menu scroll just to get to "File properties" on my old laptop. Even without much installed, the amount of items was just too much. It's a context menu, not a "do all" menu. Making it configurable is fraught with challenges too, so I'm interested to see how Microsoft tackles this one.
    • I don't hate the new menus, I am not a fan of the lack of features and how they went live when they clearly are not complete. The menu itself presents much better than the previous - but what's lacking (IMO) is: 1) Any kind of automated manipulation such as: "this goes on the new menu because you use this feature more often on this filetype" "this is rarely used and will fall back to the old menu" 2) Any kind of user manipulation such as: "a UI to add/remove/order items to the new menu"
