Install linux on raid array

Recommended Posts

Is it possible at all to install linux onto a raid-0 hardware array? I want to keep my windows on the first partition, and create another partition after for linux.

I assume linux has to have hardware support for the raid controller. Or some kind of raid driver for linux.

Hi,

I got raid1 for the boot partitions and raid0 for the rest of the system, ext3 on boot and reiserfs 3.6 in the rest.

Basically you need to have raid support in the kernel, and install some raidtools.

From there its not that hard.

I found a guide here:

You can have a go, and if you need help post again :)
