Catalyst 4.11 problems

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone..

I have this really weird problem with my Rad9700pro and cat 4.11, all my games (especially Doom3 and Far Cry) just crash the system after playing for a few minutes after I installed the 4.11 drivers.

my system is Athlon64 3000+, 512 ddr400 ram, and nForce3 250Gb mobo.

am I the only one having this problem, or is anyone else facing the same thing?

thanks for the help in advanced.

Thanks, the problem is solved now..

it really was the 4.11 drivers, I donwloaded and installed the 4.12beta and now everything is fine..

there is a bug in the 4.11 that will crash the system which has Spunk-something game server installed.. I installed it while installing Far Cry :p

thanks for the help again :D

The problem is back again..

now, if I play in the game for more than 5 minutes it crashes the system.

I tried reverting to the 4.10 drivers but they have the same problem.

what do you guys think, is my 9700pro fried? :( or is it something else.

I gave my system specs previously, but didn't mention that I'm running winxp sp2, and I have mcafee internet security..

the games used to run fine before, I don't know whats happening now :(

please anyone help.

You never answered if your card was overclocked or not?

I believe that 4.12 beta was optimized for Doom3 and HL2. So, they should run great on 4.12.

Not sure what the issue is with Far Cry. You have the latest version of DirectX?

You can also try http://www.omegadrivers.net/

something really strange happened... the PSU gave a loud explosion noise and then everything went out

I bought a new PSU rated at 400w ( the old one was a 400w PSU and it lasted for more than 2 years).. and now everything is running but both games now crash the system...

the fan on the GPU is running fine..

I'm running out of ideas... what do you think?...

May be one way, go to bios setup, go to AGP device, deactivate fast write look at the aperture size or somthing like that try x64.

if you have OC the GC underclock it.

FarCry , I think, is working with DirectX9b and openGL properties.

uninstall drivers, use driver cleaner to uninstall all files and reinstall it.

thanks alot for the help guys.. at the end it was the RAM that was the culprit and made all those strange things happen that led me to believe that it was a GPU problem  can you believe it..

I swapped the RAM from one of my systems to the other and all is running a.o.k now.. I even ran 3dmark05 a couple of times to test the stability and all is fine..

thanks again for all the great help ;)
