hey

...hope this is the right part of the forums...

anyways, finally decided to get something to replace my sony md player (mz-n505)

im kind of interested in the mp3 players, simply because the designs look sleek,

a fair amount are small and could hold a lot

but the thing is... from 3 mp3 players i listened to, they didn't sound as good as my

md player

btw... they weren't the portable hd's...

sooooo was thinkin

are there any mp3 players that has sound quality that is good as md players?

if there isn't, are there any md players that are nice and thin? that can be found

here in n.a.

i kno for sure there are thin ones in asia, lol... as thin as my md player w/o that

battery bump, lol

anyways, thx for ur time =]

sound quality largely depends on how you encode the audio. Of course some will sound like cap becausse they have bad amplifiers, but the majority will be good with good encoding.

there are slim md players around. I think panasonic makes most of them. I can't really offer anything else than to say they're around, because they're pretty hard to come by or some reason.

All players that are playing the same file should sound the same. Quality only depends on the file, not the player. If you are ripping from a CD, the best quality file would be from a lossless format, like Windows Media Lossless, or that iTunes propatary lossless format. Player wise, my advice: Get Creative (http://www.creative.com)

Im a proud iRiver user, anyways:

But it all depends on how much you wanna spend and how much space you need.

I dont really like the creative HD players, theyre so big, but i like the new Zen Micro.

Btw, i think is rated the best Creative for sound, but it all depends on the encoding as said above.

Yeah - iAudio M3 - the thinnest of the lot. But it's known for having HDD f*ckups so we'll leave that out.

To the topic-starter:- I was in the same position as you. I had an MZ-N510, and i couldn't "dig" the whole carrying the disks round thing, so I bought an iRiver H140.

It owns. It's a little thicker than my MD (and it's in an iSkin which adds a little more bulk, but it does carry a rediculous amount of songs. The sound quality is second to none and the battery lasts ages. This is why I recommend an iRiver player. If you can go for the N10 - if you're looking for "sleek" then thats it.

I sugest the SanDisc Micro mp3 player, very cheap very small.

Just never get a MD player, I bught one once and after a year it works like crap, cant copy music on it with out a problem, you have to use a crapy program to copy music on it, cant even drag and drop mp3`s into a new MD drive, it has to convert them that takes even more time.

Not only MD players are bad mostly all Audio from Sony is crap, looks good and thats it, dosent last and you dont get the quality for the price you pay for.
