virtual dvds?

Recommended Posts

i want to store some of my dvds on my powerbook (rather than taking the dvds themselves to school with me)

when i attempt to play it though by mounting the iso, dvd player just crashes

is there any way to mount these images as a virtudal dvd drive?

What did you use to create the iso? Is it really iso format? I never had problems playing from a mounted dmg/img.

If you have Toast, you can use a program called "Toast Mount" to mount it. If you still have problems, just, copy the VIDEO_TS directory somewhere and just use the "Open Video_TS feature in Apple DVD player.

I posted a folder action script a while ago here which plays video in a video_TS folder you attach it to using Apple DVD player when you open the folder.

i think toast only works on unencrypted dvd's (aka not very often)...  plus, ripping dvd's to your hard drive wastes a lot of space.  if you just want to copy movies, check out this site.

I don't think that is what the OP was looking for. I think he was looking for something to use with DVD Player. Toast does not have any problem if you rip the DVD with with Mac the Ripper or DVD backup. It will remove the CSS encryption and macrovision.

I use those two programs in combination with Popcorn or DVD2oneX and Toast to "backup" some of my DVD's.
