Does intel have any plans to develop or release a 64bit version of the pentium m/centrino chip in the near future?

I know amd currently has the mobile athlon 64.

If anyone has any info, please share it.

Plans now? No. In the future? Maybe.

why does it matter? its not like theres is any need for 64bit.. there arent even any 64bit apps!

I'm assuming by that response you prefer the current Intel chips over the AMD 64 bit chips solely on the fact that "why should we bother paying a price for chips which have no sue to us anyways"? ;).

i would imagine in the future Intel would have some plans, yes. But considering they don't have a 64 bit desktop cpu out yet, they may not be in a rush to get into the mobile side of it either.
