BWMeter, need help setting up...

Question

In BWMeter, how do I set up a filter to monitor the internet traffic for a specific computer?

Router: IP 10.0.0.1

Comp I want to monitor: IP 10.0.0.4

Tried setting up the filter in x ways, still I cant get the graph to show only the 10.0.0.4 computer...

Internet

This filter measures the traffic between your computer and the non-local network (= the Internet). Local traffic will be excluded.

To achieve this, the filter defines one source address include "THIS", which means that only the computer where BWMeter is running will be the source address. The destination is "ALL" excluding "LOCAL", which means that all addresses except the local ones will match. Again, all protocols and ports will be monitored.

The result is that this filter will only include packets where the "From" or "To" address of the packet is the IP address of this computer and the other is not part of the local network. If the "From" address of the packet matches the source or the "To" address of the packet matches the destination, then it's an upload, otherwise a download.

From BWMeter manual :)

REad the manual, but still can't figure it out.

Entered "10.0.0.4", excluding "LOCAL", both in the "Source" and "Destination" tab in Setup.

Tried different setups as well, still the graph shows no traffic...

You don't have to create a new filter with the ip of your computer. You can use the default internet filter.

Go to Filters -> Select the Internet Filter->Filter Definition and set

Source

Include: THIS (this computer only)

Destination

Include: ALL

Exclude: LOCAL :)

Tried your setup, still no go, the graph shows nothing....

I'd like to add that she wants me to monitor her traffic, it's my subscription she is using, and she tends to hog all the bandwidth by leaving limewire running...
