Mozilla Thunderbird 1.0 Getting Started Guide

Recommended Posts

If you are migrating from Microsoft Outlook or Outlook Express, you should not uninstall the client before migrating. Thunderbird cannot import from Outlook or Outlook Express when it is not installed.

lol, yup very basic guide, although thunderbird doesn't support hotmail - wtf? boo

Probably because Hotmail only works with Outlook/Outlook Express because of the way MS have it set up. Its a shame, other than that I would move from OE to Thunderbird now. I'll either get Outlook 2003 (tried a trial version - quite impressive) or wait until MS switch off hotmail support for external clients (sometime in the new year).

holy ****, thats wrong, i was going to use thunderbird but if it cant support hotmail :|

There is only 3 cleints that can do hotmail/msn account.Outllok,oe and incredimail.Incredimail probably had to pay to use it. And yes you will have to pay. Hotmail has stopped oe and outlook integration for new users and will end it for all free accounts 1st quarter next year, just around the corner. http://www.experts-exchange.com/Miscellane...Q_21162613.html http://news.com.com/2100-1038_3-5381740.html But you still can check your hotmail with thunderbird. Along with yahoo web mail excite and others using other apps. Like freepops http://freepops.org/ or mrpostman http://mrpostman.sourceforge.net/ Here is somre more apps http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?t=53174 There is more I have fount but not free. Freepops and mrpostman is the best free ones I have fount. Foxmail does it to but it uses a program like the ones I mentioned to do hotmail/msn mail. Really dont matter the way I see it. There is only 3 that does hotmial/msn accounts without a extra app like free pops etc... Plus hotmail/msn is gonna end it anyway. And with them apps you can use any emial client no matter if they end it or not. I just wonder since gmail has free pop now if msn and yahoo and the rest gonna follow them like they did with the storage and offer free pop.

It's not that hard to fix...

Why dont u just use Gmail? It's a lot better plus it has free pop access!

Yeah, I prefer Gmail + Tb much more than Hotmail + Outlook. But I can understand people having got used to Hotmail (and having loads of mail there) not wishing to switch. In my case, I've never even had Hotmail so it was an easy choice for me.
