Same ehre, my ebgames wouldnt take money because i pre-ordered it about a month ago.

Depends on the quality you want. If you used something like 384kbps for the bitrate then perhaps 200mb, 768 and you're looking at 300-400mb. I encoded Garden State again yesterday at 368*208, 768kbps, 64kbps stereo and it was just over 300 mb for 100 minutes. Also depends on the film, for example one Stargate ep I converted went down to like 100mb on 768kbps for 45 minutes because a lot of the ep was black space with a few white dots.

thanks dazzla, I appriciate that. Thats quite awsome. 300 - 400 megs a movie... though it would be close to 600 or something.

so there is some space for mp3s after all :)

Dazzla, any idea on possibilities of firmware. I mean, would it be possible for sony to release an update for example that contained web browser, mail client, aim, calc and ect.... if it is, where would it be stored? does psp have some internal mem?

I read somewhere that it had 32MB internal memory, but that may be wrong.

OK, so I decided to say the heck with my BestBuy cards and use them for something else, so I start calling everywhere around here to get in on the first shipment and everyone is sold out - stupid me!

I just called GameStop and the guy told me Sony is only shipping 25,000 in the first shipment, wtf? He also said the 2nd shipment is April 1st. Can anyone confirm this info?

I sent a PM yesterday but never got a reply.

What does it take to convert a movie to a PSP? I know of 3GP but it doesn't treat the DVD as one object. Can it be done with one tool? How do you select which language? Are subtitles preserved? I've never needed to rip a DVD to a single stream file.

Mike

I was jus wondering what your opinions are RE: Converting DVD to MP4 for PSP.

I currently use the 3gp prog, but was wondering what you thort of the other apps that are available, if you think one is better than another, if you found one to provide better rips, or easier to use etc etc.

Third-party keyboard for the PSP

The manufacturer Logic 3 presented a rather new object for the PSP of Sony. Indeed, the manufacturer intends to launch as of next May to Europe a keyboard intended for the PSP. For the moment, one does not know really the utility of this accessory, only the future will say it to us...

Who is going to carry that with them??

that keyboard would phucking own, even better if it would be thin and maybe transpernt... it could cover and protect the screen.

also that would mean ONLINE? web, email, chat?

ahhhh let it be true.... and this little psp will phucking own everything including sidekick, ipod5g and ect.

edit: the keyboard is most definatly coming out.

    • Linux 7.1 arrives with an NTFS overhaul and major hardware performance boosts by Paul Hill The founder of the Linux kernel has just announced the availability of Linux 7.1. This is a stable version of the kernel that will now be tested by various Linux distributions before it is shipped to users through update managers. Some users, like those on Debian, for example, might not get it for a long time, if at all, while Fedora users can expect it in the near future. With Linux 7.1 out on time, the merge window for Linux 7.2 is now open, giving contributors the opportunity to send in major new features that have been waiting for the last two months. Torvalds warned that he is currently travelling and will be in another timezone, so timing for the merge window may be irregular due to timezone differences and limited internet access. Torvalds said that he has already fetched early pull requests to allow him to do some offline work, but the travel could still cause disruption. Right now, he is not planning to extend the release, but did consider it. He said he might later regret not extending, though. In terms of this last week of development for Linux 7.1, Torvalds said there were no major or alarming changes. This week consisted mostly of smaller driver updates to GPU, networking, and sound, networking fixes, trace tooling fixes, and misc minor fixes. The shortlog this week lists fixes for driver bugs, memory leaks, I/O and USB fixes, networking and RDMA fixes, DRM/graphics fixes, and tooling and verification improvements. Specific fixes include USB series heap-overflow and buffer overflow fixes, and multiple use-after-free, memory-leak, and refcount corrections across subsystems such as i2c, zram, gpio, and net. There are fixes for graphics drivers, including amdgpu, i915, and virtio, as well as hypervisor and virtualization tweaks affecting mshv, vmbus, and hyperv. According to Phoronix, anyone running Linux 7.1 should look out for the new NTFS driver, Intel FRED for improved performance on Panther Lake and future CPUs, faster graphics with Intel Arc Battlemage, and improvements for older AMD Radeon GPUs. If you are running Linux on your computer and everything is fine, then you don’t need to worry about updating to Linux 7.1 as a priority; just wait for it to be pushed to you. If you have tried Linux on hardware but it didn’t work properly, trying again with a distro that uses Linux 7.1 could cause Linux to work on your machine, thanks to the new hardware support.
    • you can also do this with this tool: PowerSettingsExplorer made by mbk1969 at 3dguru forum.. I found it by accident researching on modern standby and annoying quirks of it in 2022
