Minimizing Media Player To System Tray?

I use the minimize trick for Outlook where you add the "mintotray" registry value so it does not take up space in your task bar. Can this be done with Media Player as well? I searched the forums and google but came up empty. I cannot download or use any 3rd party software because this is my work machine. I am hoping for another regkey like the one for Outlook. Any help would be greatly appriciated.

Autopatcher XP August edition has something called "WMP Tray" that minimises WMP to tray..You can practically run WMP from the tray with this little gem!!

Its one of those old Powertoys for XP

Got a screenie!! :cool:

Just change the extension to ".exe" from the .txt extension it has at the moment..

Neowin wont let me upload it in its original form...GAY!!

Sorry if I was somewhat unclear in the original post. Yup, I was talking about minimizing WMP 9 to the systray. I wish I could use that auto patcher prog, but I just can't download any software. I work in IT for a law firm that is involved in a lot intellectual property litigation and they are very strict about accepting EULA's. We represend HP, among others. Also if there are any hidden back doors or trojans in anything I install, I would be fired no questions asked. I was hoping for something as simple as a regkey. Thanks for the quick responses.

The one I posted doesnt install anything...

Soon as u click on it it pops up in the systray..

Its actually a discontinued Official Microsoft Powertoy created by Microsoft

You can use PCMag's traymin to minimize anything to the system tray.

It used to be free, but awhile back, they decided to be annoying and make people pay for their utilities. That being said... the link to the file on their site still works for some odd reason: ftp://ftp.pcmag.com/archives/2000/0118/traymin.zip

Can iTunes be minimised to the systray? I know you can choose to have an icon there, but it still takes up space on the start bar.

There's tiny, free program called RBTray that I've been using for a while. It allows you to minimize anything to the system tray by right-clicking the minimize button, or through the context menu on the taskbar entry.

Thanks! And yes, it runs in the background. There's no tray entry or splash screen or anything; it's very unobtrusive.
