DigitalSnow
You should try asking this question at the official mandrake linux distribution site. Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/256200-network-help/#findComment-585087094 Share on other sites

markwolfe Veteran Posted December 12, 2004 Veteran Share Posted December 12, 2004 Hmmm... If we are going to be able to help you, you need to provide more information. Are you wanting to set up a home network, and use Mandrake to share or control? Do you just want to add Mandrake to a home network? Or are you having problems getting Mandrake online to the internet? Do you have a router? Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/256200-network-help/#findComment-585088952 Share on other sites

karma_police
I dont use Mandrake but in Fedora is pretty easy, just go to the network config utility select DHCP or static IP write the DNS and click activate. You can burn the DVD. Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/256200-network-help/#findComment-585090892 Share on other sites

markwolfe Veteran Posted December 12, 2004 Veteran Share Posted December 12, 2004 A Microsoft router will do the same DHCP serving that a Linksys or any other one will do. It assigns the ethernet information needed to a PC that requests it. There won't be a compatibility issue there. Can you access your router's config pages from your Linux install? Post the results of an ifconfig command. In particular, let's look to see if you have multiple NICs, and you might not be using the one you think you are. Then we can start pinging network addresses further upstream to verify connectivity.
