How do I browse other shared files in the network in Suse LInux? And how do I share files out using Suse LInux?

this should be probally be put under linux sectiong but yeh if you dont know how to recive files i can help there if it is a windows file sharing just make a folder and mount the share

/ mkdir shared
/shared
/ mount /shared //computer/share
password : ******

if you come accross it talking about some signing error run this reg file on the computer with the shared files

Samba is what you are looking for.

The Samba daemon is used on a Linux box if you want to have a "share" on your Linux PC that Windows can see.

If you just want to access Windows' shares from your Linux PC, you don't need the daemon, just have the samba client installed and then you should be able to use the mount command to connect right to shares on other PCs.

Is there any kind of GUI available for samba that would enable the same kind of network browsing as in Windows?

Red Hat/Fedora has a GUI utility for this. SUSE and Mandrake probably come with their own utility, as well.

Samba comes with a web based config utility called SWAT (samba web admin tool). It's fairly easy to use. Just point your browser to http://127.0.0.1:901 (Not a windows style utility, but it's still good)

I've used Smb4k for KDE to browse for shares.

if i remember correctly ( i have not touched suse for some time ) but yast2 hase a module dedicated to samba configuration look for it.
