Free antivirus for server 2003

The subject says it all. I'm running server 2003 for non-commercial reasons - just to experement with it and learn. So I really don't want to pay the huge licence fees that tend to go with server software licences.

AVG does not work on server 2003 :no:

i tried installing it on my server 2003 and it came up with a message saying that it cannot be installed and detected it was a commercial file server or something

The reason is that the AVG license specifically tells you that you cannot install on any kind of server. Read the EULA next time, please.

:angry: hehhe ;] :D I been on windows 2000 pro and xp for the past months, but when i did use win2k3 as a desktop it worked fine. I just decided to hit back up win2k3 as a desktop lastnight.... so i re-installed and it works fine. Thats the free version i had on my computer for some time now (months), so im not sure if the newest free version doesnt work, but this one works fine., :rofl:

right after i did that update it told me they are making a new avg and mine will be unsupport in couple weeks, so im going to upgrade to the newest free avg.. itll prob. kill my os ;( o well lol

ur best bet for a free trial is f-prot if u want it they charge like 30$ for a version that works on ALL windows versions :D

i use it and as lons as i keep it updated i NEVER get viri unlike with other "top name" antiviri programs f-prot has NEVER failed me in the mannnnnnnny years i have used it (since the dos versions) :D

hey thanks for the heads up on f prot works well and its only ?16 which is great fro a low spec home server as i got set up. No way am i buying mcafee or symantec rip off for server and btw avg 6 works avg 7 does not :no::

You could try Clamwin been running it on W2k3 Server ENT for about 4 months now with no problems its free for non commercial use and its quite easy to get on with.
