Getting Slackware

Okay, I still don't have my new computer, so I'm gonna remove Vectorlinux and install Slackware on the old one.

The problem is: I don't know how to burn a .iso in Windows (our windows computer... sigh).

I tried installing cdrecord (program to creat .iso files from regular files in windows), but something went wrong during install :no:

Any other ideas?

I can't create the .iso in linux, so no need to suggest that ;-)

Nero has the option to burn an image under the recoder menu or something I believe, so should most cd recording programs.

On Nero go to : Backup then go to Burn Image. That will do it.

That's not what I meant ;-)

The thing is, for slackware, you have to choose the packages, then put them together and turn it into a .iso, then burn it.

I don't know how to put the packages together ;-)

You don't have to make packages....you could always just download the two slackware installation discs...

Well, it worked :-D

I successfully installed Slackware, got the sound working and am now enjoying a nice Fluxbox environment :-P Now, to move all of those mp3's from windows to linux...

It is pretty easy to make your own window decorations.

man fluxbox touches on a lot of good stuff regarding menus and key binding.

man fluxstyle details the many options to setting up a style.

Try copying an existing style and messing with that as a start point.

Thanks for the tips :-D I'll give it a try!

Once I manage to make a style, I'll post a screenie in the desktop screenshot list :-P (Haven't been able to do that yet)
