rightofway
I have Verizon Wireless (digitalchoice300 plan). If I receive a text message and decide not to open it, am I still charged the 2 cents? wrex
Wtf? You get charged for receiving messages? Strange.. here in Aus, we have to pay 25c to send a message, but nothing to receive them. I've always wondered what the prices were like in USA for mobiles calls/messages Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/258668-text-message-charges/#findComment-585119154 Share on other sites

As for incoming messages, I don't know what Verizon does but T-mobile and Cingular do not charge for incoming messages Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/258668-text-message-charges/#findComment-585119165 Share on other sites
Jelly2003
I can't believe that it costs money to open a text message in some places, thats a rip off, because you never sent the message. It costs me AUD$0.22 to send a SMS message (total rip off for a small text message), but I'm aware that there are plans that give you hunderds of SMS's a month for nothing. rightofway, I'd change phone plans if they are charging you money to reveive a text message on your mobile phone. Makeshift Hammer
You don't get charged in the u.k by any network for opening a txt message. It's between 7p and 12p (14-22 us cents) on a payg tariff to send one, cheaper (or free) on a subscription tariff. I can't believe thay charge you for opening a message, that's ridiculous. dreamsINdigital
AT&T is the only provider that lets you receive for free, that I know of. Although, they merged with Cingular, so I'm not really sure anymore. I hope it's still free, because I use AIM Forwarding. :) Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/258668-text-message-charges/#findComment-585126272 Share on other sites
