iBook keys touching display

Recommended Posts

Hi guys.

I noticed this a while ago and it has now become started to irritate me a bit. if I carry my iBook closed the keys leave small dirty outline marks on the monitor.

I can only assume that this is dirt and grease buildup on the keyboard as it rubs off pretty easily.

Does anyone else get this? And is there anyway to stop it happening?

Cheers guys.

Dougal.

i went out and bought a set of tft screen wipes. They are a set of wet and dry wipes first you use the wet and it takes off any smears or dirt then you use the dry and it cleans it up nice. Looks like a brand new tft. :D google for laptop wipes and your find out what i mean.

I have one of these: http://www.radtech.us/Products/NotebookScreensavrz.aspx

Black with the OS X logo on it. Put it on the keys and close, then when you open your iBook, wipe off the display with it. :D

I'll be buying some of this soon. Comes highly recommended.

I repair macs, this Is a common problem, and has been since the powerBook G3. It is the oils form you skin transfering from the keyboard to the display. There is also a certain amount of contact between the keyboard and screen when the lid is closed. A cloth on the keyboard is deff the best solution

If you still have the packaging from your i/powerbook, try using the thin plastic sheet that comes between the screen and keyboard when its packed in the factory.  Works like a charm.
