Galbi
I know the iPods have USB2 ports, but can I plug it into a laptop that only has USB1 and it will auto-degrade transfer speeds to USB1 speeds making it compatible or am I out of luck until I get a new laptop that has USB2 ports or Firewire? Veedems Veteran Posted December 20, 2004 Veteran Share Posted December 20, 2004 Um, I'm pretty sure the iPod has been known to have issues with USB 1.1. I'm not sure why the other guys said it should work fine. Galbi
USB2 is backwards compatible regardless of the device. 585131819[/snapback] Yeah, I wasn't sure if that was only on the PC side tho. i.e. a USB1 port on your PC can accept USB1 or USB2 devices. Since the iPod is the device I wasn't sure. Thanks for the info. chmsant
ipods are known to be extremely picky about USB 1.1 connections, for some they work, for others they dont... VERY SLOW!! Just get a FW or USB 2.0 PCMCIA card! you will be happy you did Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/259674-ipod-backwards-compatible/#findComment-585132232 Share on other sites
