Should I get Trillian?

Question

I have MSN Messenger with Plus and Discovery add-ons, and it works fine for me. Previously I had ICQ, but due to its slow messanging I ditched it. And now, as some of my friends have only Yahoo Messenger, I'm thinking of switching to Trillian Pro...but is it worth it? Does it have those extensions like Plus or Discovery?

I love trilly 3 pro, I bought Trilly 2 pro, and didnt like it too much, so i started using miranda IM ... great client, just lacking in some features .... and you need 1200 plugins to simple things, tried GAIM, loved it for a while, then started using the trillian 3 alpha, and re-newed my license... trillian 3 is much faster! I love it!

It clearly stated when you payed that you were paying for only version 2 and it's updates.

If you say so sailor, it's funny because every other piece of software, yes excluding windows, Ive gained access to newer versions. I see the decision made by the Trillian creators to charge for every version a really bad move. I could understand it if they'd cornered the market, found their own niche in the world, but they havent, there are lots of other multi-protocol chat clients out there, they should be treasuring their members and not charging them twice for using an updated piece of software.

You must not buy a lot of... um, anything. Cars, video-game consoles, operating systems, graphics software, ... computers. I mean probably you can buy food and clothing, but other than that you must not own many things at all.

That's just plain retarded. Those are items which have significant updates, as I said in my previous post, if there is enough reason to re-buy the same software, I will, but as-is, I think that anyone with a current pro membership should have been allowed to use the pro version of 3. Cars break down, operating systems can be no longer supported, but a chat client is basically the same from one version to the next. I dont see the point of paying twice.

Windows 98 wasn't exactly a huge improvement over 98 but you still had to pay for it. XP didn't have much more functionality then 2000, it was still just another OS, but you still had to pay for it. Why should Trillian be any different? Besides, it only costs $5.00.
